World-renowned South Korean Pianist Plays Benefit For Bergen Arts

Paramus NJ, world-renowned pianist Edwin Sungpil Kim will bring his unique blend of “magic in atmosphere, individuality and poise” (International Piano Magazine) to the Anna Maria Ciccone Theatre at Bergen Community College for a fundraising performance in April. “Touch the Music: An Evening with Edwin Sungpil Kim” will feature the artist’s signature style, which weaves audience interaction into his concerts. Cellist DoYeon Kim and vocalist Hyun Joon Shin will join Kim on stage as well. Proceeds from the event will support the creation of a “cultural enrichment” endowment through the Bergen Community College Foundation that will support arts programming at the institution.

TESU Agrees to Accept up to 90 credits from BCC Grads in Cybersecurity as Pathway to Baccalaureate Degree

Paramus NJ, Bergen Community College and Thomas Edison State University (TESU) have established an articulation agreement that makes the pathway to a baccalaureate degree easier for Bergen graduates. A memorandum of understanding signed by both college presidents during the fall semester creates transfer pathways that allow students to complete as many as three years or 90 credits at Bergen before transferring to TESU to earn a bachelor’s degree.

Bergen Hazmat Deployed to Stubborn Car Fire at Bergen Community College in Paramus

Paramus NJ, a motor vehicle fire in the “B” parking lot of Bergen Community College’s main campus destroyed what appeared to have been a Honda CRV SUV, and heavily damaged a 4-door sedan that was parked next to it. The inferno was reported just prior to 11:00 am on Tuesday, 12/19. Firefighters from Paramus Engine Companies #3 and #1 extinguished the stubborn blaze. Technicians from the Bergen County Hazardous Materials Unit were called to address a large, fire related fuel spill No injuries were reported in the incident. Both vehicles were removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck.

Paramus NJ, Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco offered a BIG congratulations to recent Bergen Community College graduate Rene Bulnes for earning the $55,000 per year Jack Kent Cooke Foundation’s Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship- the most prestigious award for community college students! Rene was one of only 60 students to receive this year’s award.

Bergen Community College Gets the “All Clear” after Bomb Threat

Paramus NJ, Bergen Community College was deemed safe after all three campuses were evacuated due to a bomb threat made to the school on Monday, officials said. 

The college’s three locations ,one in Paramus, Hackensack and Lyndhurst. All campuse  were given the “all clear” as of 3 p.m., said Larry Hlavenka Jr., a spokesman for Bergen Community College. Classes resumed as scheduled after law enforcement secured the three campuses. 

According to their website Bergen Community College has 32,000 students in degree, continuing education and adult education programs across its three campuses.

Paramus NJ, A bomb threat forced the evacuation and temporary closure of Bergen Community College’s Paramus campus on the morning of Thursday, 05/04. Paramus PD, EMS, FD, and Rescue Squad responded along with the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division. The campus was closed from just before 11 AM until 2 PM.

Hackensack NJ, according to the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, email threats were received against three Bergen County sites , the courthouse, the County administration building and  Lyndhurst and Paramus campuses of Bergen Community College . The threatened sites were evacuated at 11am this morning.

Bomb-sniffing dogs have been brought into the buildings by the Bergen Bomb squad. The Hackensack Fire Department responded to the Bergen County courthouse.
