Village of Ridgewood Plants New Trees this week at “The View” to Help Establish a Buffer Zone Between the Lookout on Crest Road

Ridgewood NJ, according to Ridgewood’s Village Manager Keith Kazmark , new trees are being planted this week at “The View” to help establish a buffer zone between the lookout on Crest Road and the residential properties below on Hillcrest Road. This follows the removal of three trees last week which were in declining health.

Fire Started by Contractor Damages Crest Road Home in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, a contractors performing decorative flooring/tile work may have unintentionally caused the fire that damaged a large single family home in the 200 block of Crest Road, Ridgewood on Tuesday morning, 04/25. Ridgewood firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, which had spread up an interior wall prior to their arrival at the home. Two (2) adults and an infant who were present when the fire broke out safely evacuated the home before police and firefighters arrived. Ho-Ho-Kus firefighters assisted Ridgewood Fire Department at the scene. Volunteer Ridgewood Emergency Services personnel also responded to the incident and Ridgewood Police were on hand.

Ridgewood Police Department Investigate Suspicious fire on Sunday Evening off of Crest Road

Ridgewood NJ, members of the Bergen County Arson Squad assisted detectives and patrol officers of Ridgewood Police Department investigate an outdoor fire believed to have been intentionally set on Sunday evening, 02/20. The fire, in the 200 block of Crest Road, Ridgewood, was reported via 911 by a nearby resident. There were no known fire related injuries, and minimal damage was caused to a heavily wooded area. Bergen County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Identification personnel collected evidence at the scene.

Ridgewood Police issued six (6) summonses in connection with a late night, Saturday, 07/29 crash on Crest Road near Valley View Avenue, Ridgewood in which a 4-door sedan careened off of the roadway, drove over the front lawn of a nearby single family home, and wound up perched on a row of neatly manicured hedges. No injuries were reported in the incident. The parents of several juvenile (under age) passengers in the vehicle were called to the scene to sign release forms and pick up their children. The car was removed from its perch by a flatbed tow truck.
