Ridgewood NJ, every year, the Village of Ridgewood finds a worthy tree to cut down for the annual “Down Town for the Holidays ” Christmas tree lighting.  The tree is destined to be cut down anyway for various reasons and donated and repurposed to the Village .

Ridgewood Village Council Ducks “Live Tree” Issue

Ridgewood NJ, at the October 25 Village Council meeting, a very brief discussion led to the conclusion that there will not be a “live” tree for the town Christmas tree.  Well over  300 people signed an online petition asking that the town stop cutting down a living tree for this purpose.  However, the council concluded that the currently used location is the best one, and a tree cannot be planted there.  So much for Green Ridgewood.

Ridgewood Menorah Lighting For Hanukkah

Ridgewood NJ, come join the celebration in Van Neste Square next Sunday! As always, we light the menorah regardless of the weather but if it’s raining sideways (which it certainly has), we light very close to 5:30.

Hanukkah Begins at Sundown on Sunday November 28th , the Menorah Lighting will be at 5:30 at Memorial Park at Van Neste Square.

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Police Department escorted this year’s Christmas tree from Township of Washington to East Ridgewood and Broad St where it will be decorated for the Downtown for the holidays celebration on December 3rd. Downes Tree Service got the tree in shape and in the stand . The tree stands 60 feet tall where it is now and it is a Norway spruce.

The Village of Ridgewood 2020 Christmas Tree Has Arrived

Ridgewood NJ, Several Ridgewood Police officers escorted the Village’s 2020 Christmas Tree to the intersection of East Ridgewood Avenue and North Broad Street on Saturday morning, November 21st.. Officers also provided traffic control while workers from Downes Tree Service removed the tree from a flatbed trailer and erected it.

rain or shine…

You do not have to go to NYC to see the lighting of a huge Christmas Tree…this is a locally grown Ridgewood Tree.

Join this “traditional” celebration Friday, November 30, 2018 5:30-7pm .E. Ridgewood Ave will be filled with Holiday music and entertainment.
Santa will be in Van Neste Park for the little ones. While waiting for Santa, listen to Cider Sing and Tasting.
