Secaucus NJ, the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) announced today that it has awarded a $99.5 million grant to NJ TRANSIT to modernize the 31-year-old Meadowlands Bus Garage in Secaucus to accommodate electric buses, consistent with the agency’s Zero-Emission Bus Transition Plan. Highlights include installing charging equipment and constructing shelter and maintenance facilities.

City of Hackensack Fire Department Douses Electric Vehicle Fire in Parking Garage

Hackensack Nj, on March 8th at 01:30am the City of Hackensack Fire Department members of 4th platoon responded to 435 Main St on Box 5-6-2. An activation of the elevator pit smoke detector led Engine 5 to the lower level parking garage below the 6 story light weight occupied apartment building. It was there that Engine 5 was met with banked down smoke causing limited visibility while searching for the cause. A car fire was quickly located and 2 lines were stretched with one operating. The car fire was swiftly knocked down. Additional precautions and measures were required due to the fact that it was an electric vehicle (EV) which do not extinguish easily as regular vehicles do. Firefighters operated on scene for about 7hrs until the vehicle was fully extinguished and able to be safely removed from below the apartments. One firefighter was injured and was released from Hackensack Hospital overnight.

Tesla Plans New $25K Electric Car For 2025

Paramus NJ, Tesla has told suppliers it wants to start production of a new electric vehicle in mid-2025. Codenamed ‘Redwood’, the next-generation vehicle is expected to drive a new wave of growth. Tesla has forecasted a weekly production volume of 10,000 vehicles. The new vehicle may be the entry-level $25,000 car that Elon Musk first promised to build in 2020. Tesla plans to make an inexpensive robotaxi based on the same vehicle architecture as the $25,000 electric car.

Murphy Administration to require all new car sales to be electric by 2035

Trenton NJ, Governor Phil Murphy and Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Commissioner Shawn M. LaTourette today announced the filing of the Advanced Clean Cars II rule for adoption on December 18, setting the state on the road toward better air quality and cleaner choices for new car buyers while combatting the worsening climate crisis. New Jersey joins a growing number of states that are requiring vehicle manufacturers to make zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) an increasing percentage of their new light-duty vehicle sales beginning in model year 2027, ramping up to 100% ZEVs by 2035.

Three of the solutions use liquid electrolytes and the fourth is a solid-state battery. The company is also putting a lot of effort into shrinking the height of its battery packs. BERGEN COUNTY EXPANDS ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING CAPACITY

Paramus NJ, Bergen County Executive James J. Tedesco III along with the Board of County Commissioners and Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella recently celebrated the installation of new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at the Bergen County Administrative Complex in Hackensack. With the installation of the new chargers, the County increases its total charging footprint by 40 percent with the capacity to accommodate 16 additional cars. In total, Bergen County has installed 37 electric vehicle charging stations at County facilities over the last four years.
