Baby-boomers retired, many became freelancers/gig workers, demanding job flexibility like working from home, and lastly, others quit due to debilitating emotional trauma caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

September’s Jobs Report Big Miss, Payrolls Increasing by only 194,000

Washington DC, total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 194,000 in September, and the unemployment rate fell by 0.4 percentage point to 4.8 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Notable job gains occurred in leisure and hospitality, in professional and business services, in retail trade, and in transportation and warehousing.
