Ridgewood NJ,  Kings Food Markets, upscale gourmet food market, and Instacart, the technology-driven, nationwide on-demand grocery delivery service, announced today a partnership to bring same-day delivery to nearly 900,000 households across New Jersey, New York and Connecticut.

Kings customers can now visit kingsdelivers.com or download the Instacart app to fill their virtual carts with all their favorite items — from the freshest produce and the finest meat to chef prepared items and everyday essentials — and have them delivered straight to their doorstep by Instacart, often in as little as an hour.

“Online shopping in the grocery space is continuing to flourish and we are thrilled to provide this convenient service to our communities” said Judy Spires, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Kings Food Markets. “We always aim to be the food and entertaining solution for our customers and now they will be able to receive their signature favorites and high quality food options to their homes, quickly and easily.”

This partnership will allow Kings customers in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut towns served by Instacart to enjoy the experience of grocery shopping online, and convenience of same-day home delivery. Instacart shoppers will fill customers’ orders in store – with access to every high quality product that Kings has always brought to local communities. Customers can use Promo Code KINGS20 to receive $20 off their first order of $35 or more.  And for an extra savings, the delivery fee will also be waived on the first order.

Ridgewood NJ, Kings Food Markets (Kings) is excited to take its customers on an authentic culinary journey through the regions of Italy with an eight-day tasting and entertainment event called Piazza Italia, beginning March 31. The exclusive showcase will recreate a traditional Italian market, or “piazza” across 12 Kings’ stores, featuring a collection of hand-curated products that customers will be welcomed to sample and learn about directly from the Italian artisans. The showcase will feature 25 artisans from 12 regions across Italy, bringing over 75 products for customers to explore including traditional products spanning centuries of history, alongside innovative concepts that will intrigue and please even the most discriminating palates.
“At Kings, we’re always looking to delight our customers with new and authentic options,” said Judy Spires, chairman and CEO of Kings Food Markets. “Our passion for food is what drives us and programs like Piazza Italia are what inspire us. We can’t wait to share this inspiration with our customers and give them the opportunity to taste the highest quality products and engage with these skilled Italian artisans.”

Featured products, hand selected from almost 100 producers, will feature:

·         Olive oils from four different Italian regions including Liguria, Tuscany, Umbria and Apulia

·         Giusti Balsamic Vinegars, the oldest producer of balsamic vinegar established in 1605

·         Rich and succulent specialty sauces direct from Sicily

·         Genuine artisanal pasta from different Italian regions including Marche, Campania and Apulia

Additional Italian delights will be available: marinated vegetables, decadent sweets including chocolates, cookies and coffee/tea. There will even be a selection of craftsman ceramic dishes as well as pots and pans to purchase. Celebrate National Heart Health Month with these Heart-Healthy Treats

Ridgewood NJ, The National Retail Federation reports that the average person will spend $142.31 on Valentine’s Day in 2015, up $8 from last year. With February underway, people everywhere are beginning to plan and find something special for their loved one – but it’s not about the amount of money you spend.

Kings Food Markets encourages you to give from your heart, rather than your wallet, in honor of National Heart Health Month this February with these heart-healthy treats hand-selected from Nutritionist Shari Bilt Boockvar, MS, RD.:

·         Chocolaty Banana Crepes

o   Dark chocolate has more antioxidants than milk chocolate and the cinnamon may help with decreasing your risk of high blood pressure.

·         Chocolate Peanut Pomegranate Treat

o   The peanuts and peanut butter provide beneficial unsaturated fats while cacao powder provides antioxidants, magnesium and fiber. By adding Greek yogurt, you get the benefits of both protein and calcium.

·         Fruity Nutty Tortilla Pizza

o   Choose whole wheat tortillas to provide additional fiber and enjoy berries that add a source of additional fiber and antioxidants. The unsaturated fats in almonds are also beneficial for heart health.

HEART-HEALTHY RECIPES FOR VALENTINE’S DAY:

Chocolaty Banana Crepe (Makes 1)

Ingredients:

·         2 Egg Whites (from 2 Kings Organic Cage Free Eggs)

·         3 Hershey’s Dark Chocolate Kisses, chopped

·         ½ Banana, sliced

·         1 Teaspoon Sugar

·         Cinnamon

·         Vegetable Spray (such as Pam)

Directions:

·         Spray small pan and pour in egg whites.  Cook for about 1-2 minutes on each side to form a crepe.

·         Place on plate and top half with banana slices and chopped chocolate

·         Fold over other half to cover and then sprinkle top with cinnamon and sugar

·         Wait about 1 minute until chocolate is melted

Chocolate Peanut Pomegranate Treat (Makes 1)

Ingredients:

·         1 Container Vanilla Greek Yogurt

·         1 Tablespoon Natural Peanut Butter

·         1 Teaspoon Crushed Peanuts

·         1 Tablespoon Cacao Powder

·         ¼ Cup Pomegranate Arils (fresh or frozen)

Directions:

·         Mix yogurt, peanut butter and cacao powder until blended well.

·         Top with pomegranate arils and crushed peanuts

Fruity Nutty Tortilla Pizza (Makes 1)

Ingredients:

·         1 Whole Wheat Tortilla (La Tortilla Factory)

·         ¾ Cup Mixed Berries (Strawberries, Blueberries, Raspberries)

·         1 Tablespoon Chocolate Syrup

·         1 Tablespoon Sliced Almonds

Directions:

·         Lay tortilla on flat surface and top with berries

·         Toast for 2 minutes in toaster oven

·         Drizzle with chocolate syrup and top with sliced almonds.

·         Slice into 6 pieces
