Newark NJ, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey strongly encourages travelers by air, rail and road to allot additional travel time during the five-day July Fourth holiday travel period. More than 5.5 million passengers are expected to use Port Authority airports, bridges and tunnels between Thursday, July 3 and Monday, July 7, which would represent similar volumes to the same period in 2024.

Fort Lee NJ, The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey expects nearly 5.5 million travelers across its facilities this Memorial Day weekend. To accommodate motorists traveling between New York and New Jersey, all ongoing repairs and construction projects at its crossings will be suspended from 5 a.m. Friday, May 26, to 5 a.m. Tuesday, May 30. A separate travel advisory for any lane closures or service changes for the remainder of that week will be issued next week.

To accommodate the projected heavy volume, the agency has put measures in place, including a full complement of staff – customer service representatives at its major airports and police officers at all facilities and toll collectors at its tunnels and bridges – to make the holiday trip as smooth as possible.
