Point Pleasant Beach NJ, in a groundbreaking discovery, the wreckage of the 1856 transatlantic passenger steamship Le Lyonnais has been found by a team of explorers. Le Lyonnais tragically sank on November 2, 1856, after colliding with the American sailing vessel Adriatic off the coast of Nantucket. Of the 132 passengers and crew aboard, 114 perished in the disaster, making it one of the most significant maritime tragedies of its time.

Point Pleasant NJ, World Whale Day is an annual event celebrated on the third Sunday in February, which is dedicated to raising awareness about whales and their conservation. The event was first celebrated in Maui, Hawaii in 1980 as part of the Maui Whale Festival, which was organized to raise awareness about the humpback whales that migrate to Hawaii every year.

Bay Head NJ, twelve New Jersey coastal mayors signed a letter calling for immediate stoppage of all offshore wind farm research after another whale was found dead Monday morning.
The whale washed up on Long Island at Lido Beach around 20 miles northeast of Sandy Hook. It’s now the eighth time a whale has been found dead in the region.

Teen Fatally Struck by NJ Transit Train at Jersey Shore

Point Pleasant NJ, according to NJ Transit a teen died after being struck by a NJ Transit train in Point Pleasant Beach on Sunday afternoon. NJ Transit says a train that departed Long Branch shortly after 3:45 p.m. that was bound for Bay Head struck the child at the Forman Avenue crossing.
