Wyckoff NJ, unlike Ridgewood which voted to give up its right to vote on school budgets , parents have become increasingly angry over public education – on issues ranging from lockdowns to “woke” indoctrination and falling test scores – school board elections have become a focus of discontent and incumbents are increasingly retiring under pressure or losing re-election.

Ridgewood NJ, in April a reader aptly described the current situation in the Ridgewood School system ( https://theridgewoodblog.net/reader-suggest-its-time-for-new-leadership-at-ridgewood-schools/ )

“Ultimately Fishbein and Gorman are responsible. Their hefty salaries are funded by the taxpayers. If the rankings don’t improve in 2-3 years, then these two losers get FIRED. It’s that simple, folks.
What part of the budget (none?) is going towards improving the actual ACADEMIC QUALITY of Ridgewood schools?

Reader says , “Ridgewood schools are living off the fumes of reputation”

$110 million budget and our schools not even ranked anymore in the top twenty in the state. Only four Ivy Leaguers amongst 2018 graduating class. Ridgewood schools are living off the fumes of reputation. Taxpayers not getting their money’s worth, but teachers certainly are, not upholding the Tradition of Excellence but profiting from it. Cha-ching!

Reader says , “The Dark Side is busy preparing for Council elections in 2020 “

vader rogue one update 6ea7ef941

I too was uncomfortable with Mr. Kaufman’s performance but all I had to do was to see who is supporting Loncto and hearing that Jeff Voigt was actually bullying a gentleman at the event to know that I am casting a vote for Kaufman. The Dark Side is busy preparing for Council elections in 2020. Some how this is all connected. Don’t understand them but I know I disagree with just about everything they are for. Please cast a vote for Kaufman. He deserves a chance.

Reader says happy we have a choice for the Ridgewood School Board Elections

BOE

Loncto absolutely has to go. He is so condescending. He is trying to act like a totally agreeable guy now that THANK GOD we have a candidate running against him. But do not be fooled. Loncto is large and in charge and he wants no one to get in the way of his super intelligence. He absolutely is opposed to having us vote on the budget. Believe me, he is only saying he will support it because he wants to get reelected. he will flip on this be certain.

Ridgewood School Board Insists September 17 Resolution Does Not take a Position on the Date of the School Election

BOE

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood School Board Vice President Jim Morgan , tells the Ridgewood Blog in an email , “You might also find the language in the September 17 resolution of interest. Nowhere does it take a position on the date of the school election. It only seeks discussion. Here is the link to the District website that contains the approved resolution”

He also forwarded us an article from North Jersey media  , “Ridgewood weighs moving school elections yet again” https://www.northjersey.com/story/news/bergen/ridgewood/2018/10/02/ridgewood-nj-could-move-school-elections-yet-again/1436010002/  Rather telling headline don’t you think?

Which all begs the question if you are not trying to take away residents vote on the Ridgewood School Budget ($110,000,000) why has the Board of Education invited the public and members of the Village Council to attend its Oct. 8 and Nov. 5 meetings for a discussion?

Incumbent to run unopposed for Ridgewood Board of Ed again?

BOE_theridgewoodblog

Ridgewood NJ, School board incumbent Vince Loncto is running unopposed for another three-year term on the five-member Ridgewood Board of Education. Loncto currently serves as BOE vice president.

This is now the second time the BOE has managed to pull this off . Leading once again to questions about notification . When were the BOE packets available, when was the public notified ?
If notification has not gone out is it legal ? What are the remedies or did no one really want to run for the BOE? Clinging to power or what are they so scared of ?

In 2013, the Ridgewood school board voted to move its election from April to the general election in November. The move also eliminated the public vote on the school budget, as long as the annual school tax increase remains under 2 percent. Election Day is now Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Any Notification ? Any Publication ? Candidate Packets ?

Well two BOED trustees are running unopposed. So its the same old song. Was there even any publication that the elections were coming up and any potential candidate can pick their packets up at the BOED. Snuck that one through.
