Ridgewood Crew Scores a Silver, Two Other Top 10 Finishes at 2024 Head of the Schuylkill Regatta

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Crew brought home a silver medal and two other boats finished in the top 10 on Sunday at the 54th annual Head of the Schuylkill Regatta (HOSR) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Run on a 3,800-meter course that twists and turns under four bridges, this year’s Head of the Schuylkill featured more than 8,500 rowers of all ages from 282 clubs across the United States, Canada, and four other countries. Ridgewood sent 26 athletes to compete in 12 boats.

Ridgewood Crew Brings Home a Gold, Notches Six Top 10 Finishes Overall at Head of the Schuylkill Regatta

Philadelphia Pennsylvania, the Ridgewood Crew enjoyed a hard-fought victory in the Jim Barker Cup series and scored five other top 10 finishes on Sunday at the prestigious Head of the Schuylkill Regatta, a 4,150-meter head course in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Now in its sixth decade, the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta attracts rowers from around the world, and this year featured nearly 2,200 entries in high school, university, and masters categories from 276 clubs, four countries.

Philadelphia PA, this Halloween marked the 50th anniversary of the prestigious Head of the Schuylkill Regatta. Although not quite as large as the Head of the Charles, this regatta is still one of the big ones, attracting nearly 9,000 rowers and over 30,000 spectators. It was considered to be the world’s largest one day regatta, until it grew so large that it had to be separated into two days. Collegiate teams, elite teams, and masters teams race on Saturday, while highschool and club teams race on Sunday.
