UPDATE: New Jersey Forest Fire Service: wildfire in West Milford Township off Route 23 and Echo Lake Road is now 65% Contained

At 10 a.m. Saturday, April 15, the New Jersey Forest Fire Service achieved 100 percent containment of a 972-acre wildfire in West Milford Township on Newark Watershed property.

West Milford NJ, the New Jersey Forest Fire Service continues to make significant progress in efforts to contain a wildfire in West Milford Township off Route 23 and Echo Lake Road. The fire remains at 972-acres in size and is now 65% contained.

Crews have continued to reinforce containment lines on the ground and by air. Containment is expected to continue to increase over the next several hours as lines are improved.

Senator Anthony M. Bucco said he’s working with State and local officials to monitor a wildfire that has spread to 250 acres along a section of Route 23 in West Milford.
