Ridgewood NJ, theRidgewood Crew Team hosted its annual Row-a-Thon this past Saturday, witnessing an exhilarating race between local police and firefighters, showcasing community spirit and athletic prowess.

Ridgewood NJ , the Ridgewood Crew team recently participated in the third of the 2023 Manny Flick / Horvat Series of rowing races before the annual regatta season begins. In the rowing world, the only regattas on the Schuylkill are the upcoming City Championships, the Catholic League Championships, and the Stotesbury Cup Regatta. To give the crews time to size up the competition beforehand, local teams came up with a series for the rowers at the “flicks” on the same racecourse. The “flicks” are named after Manuel A. Flick, a father who organized the first series in the 1950s. The one-day regatta attracted 81 clubs. Ridgewood Crew had 16 entries, more than any other participating club. A summary of Ridgewood Crew successful results follows.
Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Crew team won six medals at the annual Haddon Hammer, held in person at Haddon Township High School. The event attracted 17 clubs. Ridgewood Crew had 55 entries, out of 286 total, second only to Moorestown High School/ Rowing Club. For the second year in a row, Ridgewood Crew won the Haddon Hammer Best Boat men Award, and honor bestowed upon the team with the fastest average time in the Boys category.
Ridgewood NJ, The Ridgewood Crew team participated in the annual Ironman Erg Classic held 100% virtually and hosted by Don Bosco Prep High School in Ramsey on January 23, 2021. The event attracted 17 clubs. Ridgewood Crew had 44 entries.
Ridgewood performed well, according to Head Coach Boris Roque-Alvarez, “This event was a great opportunity to all RC athletes and will help the team to keep motivated in a difficult season giving the challenges presented by COVID-19. We are proud of the whole team and we are looking forward to race in upcoming events.”
Ridgewood NJ, The Ridgewood Crew team competed in their first regatta on October 8, the Tail of the Passaic. The team garnered two first-place finishes, including the Men’s Varsity 1x; and the Women’s Varsity 4x Ridgewood Crew also took home five-second place finishes.
In addition to the four semifinalists, 25 students have been identified as Commended Students in the most recent competition.
