Wyckoff Residents Hit by “Bail Scam”

Wyckoff NJ, the Wyckoff Police Department has received multiple reports from residents that they have been contacted via phone by our Department in regards to “posting bail”. The caller tells the resident that their relative or loved one has been arrested, and they need to pay to have them released. They will typically demand that you pay this “bail” via Bitcoin or in the form of a digital gift card. This is not a legitimate call and is a common scam.

Out of Control Vehicle Hits Utility Pole and Pedestrian in Wyckoff

Wyckoff NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the investigation of a motor vehicle crash that occurred on Saturday, August 1, 2020, near the intersection of Wyckoff Avenue and Newtown Road in Wyckoff, NJ. The investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Wyckoff Police Department under the direction of Chief David Murphy.

Wyckoff Police Hunt for Restaurant Vandals

Wyckoff NJ, The Wyckoff Police Department needs your help! On Wednesday, June 17, 2020 a restaurant located in the Mayflower Shopping Center at 85 Crescent Ave was vandalized.
The Wyckoff Police Department’s investigation so far has determined that this crime occurred between approximately 3:45am and 4:45am.
We are asking neighborhood residents, especially those living on or off of Crescent Ave, Hurley Ave, and Godwin Ave (south of Crescent) to review any security camera and/or video doorbell footage from that time. Wyckoff Police Post Results of Distracted Driving Campaign

Wyckoff NJ, the Wyckoff Police Department recently completed the Distracted Driving Campaign and they were kind enough to post all the results for the time period.

Distracted driving is one of the fastest growing safety issues on the roads today. Distracted drivers aren’t just a threat to themselves: they’re a danger to everyone else on the road. The national distracted driving effort focuses on ways to change the behavior of drivers through legislation, enforcement, public awareness, and education.

An alarming trend is that traffic deaths in New Jersey have increased to 635 last year from a low of  542 in 2013.

From April 1st to April 21st the Wyckoff police department conducted a Distracted Driving Campaign. The Police established check points to make sure motorist were operating safely in Wyckoff  . 262 summons were issued by police.:

33 were for cell phones, 10 for careless driving ,9 for speeding , 8 for driving with a suspended license , 6 for failure to wear a seat belt , 5 for reckless driving , 5 criminal arrests , 4 DUI’s and 4 traffic warrant arrests.

These details are in place to make sure vehicles traveling in Wyckoff remains safe, drive carefully.
