Official Ridgewood Facebook Pages Edited (unlawfully?) in Response to Child Porn Arrest

Ridgewood NJ, in response to the recent arrest of a former Village of Ridgewood (VOR) parking enforcement agent on multiple child porn charges, two official VOR Facebook pages (Ridgewood Village Manager and Ridgewood Police Department) have just been edited to remove his name and photograph.

The Ridgewood Blog questions whether these edits, ostensibly done to reduce the likelihood that internet searches would identify Ridgewood Village as the arrested individual’s most recent employer, violated NJ’s Open Public Records Act. This is because official VOR business is discussed on both Facebook pages.
If proper background checks were conducted prior to hiring the arrestee, why would anyone feel a misguided need to erase all publicly visible official record of his employment by the Village. Are we missing something here?

  1. Who ordered this lame coverup attempt and why?

    1. With Watergate, the media insisted that “It’s the Cover Up, not the Crime”.

Did the media lie to me ?

  2. What a bunch of knuckle heads. How could they have possibly thought no one on the inside would say anything? Jesus.

  3. Kazmark again

  4. Why are they erasing the past when the internet won’t ever allow it? Why are they racing the past if they didn’t do anything wrong?

  5. AnotherRidgewood cover up in our beautiful stress free village. Did they background check the guy prior to hiring. What are Ridgewood standard protocols for screening individuals who come in to work for the village?

  6. The traffic guys look like jacked up thugs…

  7. Had he applied for a police officer job?

  8. “Maintaining the integrity and quality of our downtown is a major priority.” By hiring perverts? What a riot!

  9. The Village Manager and Police deleting and altering social media posts undermines transparency, accountability, and public trust.

  10. Wait isn’t that the equivalent to suppressing evidence? 🙄

  11. It’s what this administration does best, deny delete and erase to obscure the public’s ability to hold officials accountable for their actions.

  12. Violation of Public Record Laws

  13. The village has not done a good job with hiring in the past five years with a few . They have hard way too many friends and family, and it’s gonna backfire in someone’s face.

  14. Why do you people seek out problems. This is really not a big deal.

    1. An intentional violation of the law is no big deal? Have another toke.

      1. dON’t DisRespeCt tHe LaW!!! Also, vote Trump.

  15. Ridgewood, the blue lagoon, whose good democrat voting residents reap what they sow.

  16. Excuse me what’s not a big deal

  17. This is why the village is spending 250k a year for a “communications director” including benefits – to go everywhere with Vagiano’s puppet Kazmark and promote him like a politician and to hide his doings and to clean village’s image!

  18. Keep exposing them. Why isn’t this story all over the Ridgewood facebook pages, moms pages, everywhere
