Ridgewood NJ, even the lefties at Bloomberg News are forced to admit “the omicron variant of Covid-19 may be less likely to land patients in the hospital than the delta strain, according to three studies of preliminary data. Researchers in Scotland suggest the variant is associated with a two-thirds reduction in the risk of hospitalization when compared with the earlier mutation, though omicron was 10 times more likely to infect people who’d already had the virus. There’s more on the accumulating evidence that omicron seems weaker than its predecessors. ”
An initial study (unpublished) on the severity of the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant of concern (VOC) conducted in South Africa suggests that adults are approximately 30% less likely to be hospitalized due to severe COVID-19 now than during the Delta surge. Health experts from the region also claim that hospitalized patients are less likely to end up on ventilators or require intensive care, on average, than during previous surges of COVID-19. However, scientists and public health officials have been quick to point out that the mild reactions to Omicron in South Africa may not be seen in Europe and the US. A large percentage of the South African population is young, by comparison, and many already have some immunity to SARS-CoV-2 due to prior infection during previous surges or vaccination. This immunity is believed to be a prominent factor driving the reduced disease severity observed in South Africa.

Fauci is a dud as well.
Tony Fauci = Doogie Howser. Only those with room temperature IQs listen to him.
In other words omicron is a common cold?
^ Pretty much. My doctor calls it Omicold.
Leave it to the teachers union to take advantage of this nothing burger and attempt to shut things down. They’ve all been campaigning and even encouraging kids to be ready for the “pivot”..overused word. Pathetic. Thank you Gorman for your reasonable letter today. Those who can…do. Those who can’t…teach.
Around 2000 people got the flu last year. Are we taking bets for 2021?
