Ridgewood NJ, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, on Thursday, November 9th ,reported  the rectory and youth ministry offices  suffered an internet outage . Because of   the internet outage, the live-streaming of their daily masses was also affected. Meaning you could  not view the live-streaming of masses on any of the three platforms (Facebook, parish website or the parish Youtube page.) until the internet is restored.

All jokes aside about young people unable to survive without wifi , in a 2022 study of 2000 adults concluded that nearly half of Americans can’t live without their electronics (48%) and Wi-Fi (46%).

1879 After many experiments, Thomas Edison invented an incandescent light bulb that could be used for about 40 hours without burning out. By 1880 his bulbs could be used for 1200 hours and later that year  Electric lights (Brush arc lamps) were first used for public street lighting, in Cleveland, Ohio. California Electric Light Company, Inc. in San Fransicso was the first electric company to sell electricity to customers. The company used two small Brush generators to power 21 Brush arc light lamps.

Now adays electricity is everywhere and nobody questions about surviving without electricity. Wifi and internet connectivity are now ubiquitous and just another utility like electricity .The word from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church is that Verizon restored Internet service and perhaps some faith in technology around 3pm on Friday .
