See too many conductors using cellphones while driving trains. Very dangerous.
Union labor: didja splat somebody while playing Candy Crush? No worries, back on the job tomorrow.
The conductors have zero control of the trains other that onboard passenger management. Striking a pedestrian is completely out of their control and is almost always a suicide.
