Fort lee NJ, The Port Authority will mark September 11th by flying the world’s largest free-flying flag at the George Washington Bridge .
The Port Authority will hold an interfaith remembrance service at St. Peter’s Church, located at the corner of Barclay and Church streets in Lower Manhattan, at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 11.
The service will honor the 84 Port Authority employees who were killed on September 11, 2001 in the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, as well as the victims of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.
In addition, to honor those who were lost, the Port Authority will fly the world’s largest free-flying flag at the George Washington Bridge from 7:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, September 11.
So many Heros stepped up to help their neighbors and fellow human beings.
Let us never forget their sacrifices and courage.
What commemorative activity does the village municipal government plan to remember the many friends and relatives of Ridgewood residents that died in the attack? Glen Rock annually has a very moving gathering at their 9/11 Memorial. If Ridgewood has not scheduled anything, I would invite anyone that cares to participate in this civic ceremony. It is scheduled for 6:30 at Veterans Park on Main Street just off Rock Road.
You may use my name in this post.
Q: WHAT WILL RIDGEWOOD SCHOOLS DO FOR 9/11 ???
A: NOTHING (lip service at best)
.
Will they have a walkout and a service ?
Will they have an assembly?
Will they have guest speakers?
.
Will 9/11 be incorporated into the day’s curriculum?
Are Ridgewood teachers assigning thoughtful projects?
Are they raising money to donate to Wounded Warriors?
Are there any immersive cross-discipline events planned?
.
Does the NJEA have any guidance?
A quick look at their website shows NOTHING for 9/11
It DOES however have these front page stories:
– “Unionism cannot be a spectator sport”
– Two pro-Menendez and 2 pro-Murphy articles
– An anti-gun article
– and an anti-Kavanaugh article “Stand up for public education: Oppose the Kavanaugh nomination to the Supreme Court”
.
And this is a town that is in close proximity to and has close ties to NYC
and more importantly this is a town who lost 12 of its own.
Jim Morgan, Instead of taking a gratuitous swipe at the Council, perhaps you should pay attention to what goes on. The families of the Ridgewood 9/11 victims had asked, a number of years ago, for the annual remembrance to stop. They did not want to keep coming, their kids were getting older, some had remarried, it was a burden for some of them to feel like they had to come year after year. So a previous council heeded their wishes and ended the annual memorial service.
true but many of us lost love ones , and we also deserve to remember on 9/11, as a reminder 2997 people perished on that day
Hey Jim maybe you should spend some time on lowering our taxes.
Once again Ridgewood looks like the twon of selfcentered a-holes
No good thought nor deed goes unpunished ..seems to always be personal ..
