Montvale NJ, as sightings of unexplained drones over New Jersey continue to spark curiosity and concern, President-elect Donald Trump has pledged to release a detailed report shortly after his inauguration on January 20. Speaking at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, Trump promised the report “about one day” into his administration, citing the public’s demand for answers regarding the mysterious aerial activity.

Drone Sightings and Flight Restrictions

The first reports of unexplained drones in New Jersey surfaced in November, prompting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to issue temporary flight restrictions over more than 50 towns. These restrictions, in effect through much of January, cover key locations such as:

  • Bedminster, home to Trump’s property and golf club.
  • Picatinny Arsenal, a military research and manufacturing hub in Rockaway Township.
  • Sandy Hook Bay, near Naval Weapons Station Earle, where multiple unauthorized drone flights were reported.

The FAA emphasized that the restrictions are precautionary, prohibiting drone operations below 400 feet in the specified zones. Violators could face severe penalties, including criminal charges or even “deadly force” if drones are deemed a security threat.

Trump’s Call for Transparency

The mysterious drone activity has fueled speculation and concern, both online and in the media. Trump addressed the issue on Truth Social, writing:

“Let the public know, and now. Otherwise, shoot them down!!!”

Trump also suggested that government agencies and the military have information they are not sharing.

“Our military knows where they took off from…and for some reason, they don’t want to comment,” he told reporters in December.

Investigations and Theories

The unexplained sightings have drawn comparisons to UFO incidents, fueling a range of theories:

  • Mistaken Identity: Many sightings may involve commercial planes or manned aircraft mistaken for drones.
  • Espionage Claims: Some speculate foreign entities, including the widely debunked theory of an “Iranian mothership” off the East Coast.
  • Social Media Speculation: Social platforms have amplified unverified claims, adding to the public’s intrigue.

The FBI’s Newark office opened an investigation in November following multiple reports through the state’s Suspicious Activity Reporting System. However, definitive explanations remain elusive.

State and Federal Response

State officials, including New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, have pressed federal authorities for clarity. Murphy stated that he had a briefing with the Department of Homeland Security and underscored the seriousness of the situation:

“This is something we’re taking deadly seriously.”

The FAA has been tight-lipped about the nature of the sightings, focusing instead on enforcing safety measures.

What’s Next?

Trump’s forthcoming report could shed light on the situation, offering clarity on whether the sightings are mundane misidentifications or indicative of a larger issue. In the meantime, FAA restrictions and ongoing investigations aim to protect critical infrastructure and address public concerns.

As the situation develops, residents and aviation enthusiasts alike are left wondering: What’s really happening in New Jersey skies?

  1. I thought we all moved on from the drone story.

They’re still up there, but all news and reporting has gone silent…

  2. It was always nonsense. There may have been a drone or two, but the hysterics were just crazy. Yesterday’s “news”.

  3. Really? Are all of those Navy pilots, Coast Guard sailors, and police officers who witnessed this being nonsensical and hysterical?
