Fair Lawn NJ, the Provident Bank branch at 12-79 River Road, Fair Lawn was held up by a lone individual at approximately 10:25 AM on Tuesday, 07/11. No weapon was shown in the bank and no one was otherwise injured. The perpetrator fled from the bank on foot with an unspecified amount of cash. Fair Lawn Police officers who canvassed the surrounding neighborhood later found a homeowner’s security camera had captured the individual entering a motor vehicle and driving away from the neighborhood. A license plate may have been visible in the video; an investigation is underway. Responders included Fair Lawn Police, Bergen County Sheriff’s Office K-9 units, and Bergen County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Identification.
Sources say the suspect is an approximately 5-foot-9 male wearing a black hoodie, gray pants, a hospital mask and a white hat, Macys said. It is unknown whether he was armed, and he did not show a weapon.
No one was hurt in the robbery. An unknown amount of money was stolen from the bank.
