Ramsey Woman Thankful Husband Home After COVID Battle

Valley_Hospital_theridgewoodblog

Dear Editor,

My family and I are blessed to have my husband, Christopher, home after his intense battle with COVID-19. I hope that our story has given hope to so many when others are not having the same outcome during this difficult time.

We received support from our community on a level we never would have expected. We received meals and groceries, as well as a meal train from Ramsey residents, some we didn’t even know. We asked for prayers and churches all over the county included him in their daily prayers.

When Christopher first got sick, we were told that Remdesivir could help save his life.  It was very difficult to get this drug since it was not yet approved. The drug was approved for compassionate care for Christopher but it was not arriving at the hospital. At the very beginning of this crisis, Assemblyman Bob Auth and Congressional Candidate John McCann along with many others were integral to getting Remdesivir for Christopher.  Without their continued support and relentless advocating, we do not know if Christopher would have gotten the drug in time.

The doctors, nurses and staff at Valley Hospital treated us like family. So little was known about the virus and yet they did everything they could to give us daily updates. I knew all the nurses by name, some even cried with me on the bad days. I am forever in their debt.

Thank you to everyone who prayed, cooked, called and advocated.

Our family will be forever grateful.
