Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Baseball & Softball Association President Scott Muller sets blame squarely on former Ridgewood Mayor Susan Knudsen’s administration for his organization’s inability to play ball now at Schedler.
His exact quote about what action should be taken in retribution, audio recorded on smart phones carried by several attendees of the Fields Committee meeting held at 460 W. Saddle River Rd. on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, was: ” . . . And I’d like to go on record. I’d like to truck it to Susan Knudsen’s front yard. Just put the whole dirt right there.” On record it is, Mr. Muller.

Several members of village council attended the meeting according to zoom recording. Plus village manager. None of them interjected. Seems to ve a pattern with this council mostly because they promised these spirts team the field so they are not about to turn on thrm, maybe back room deaks were made. Why would they stake (or ruin) their reputation over it. Disappointing is an understatement.

The contaminated berm was originally placed to protect the location from “trucks barreling up Route 17.” Imagine? I assure you that I have no engineering knowledge, but I would bet anything that any truck barreling into the berm would go through it – or over it. It’s a horrible, horrible location for this field.

I just watched the council meeting ans simply cannot believe that no official will make a public statement because they are all pals. Same thing happened with bullying. When will it stop and what are we teaching our kids by enabling bad behavior.

The only person who should be embarrassed in this scenario is RBSA Board President, Scott Muller who went on record to threaten the property of the former Mayor who he is accusing of being responsible. You would probably not hear anything from Winograd, Kazmark, Handy others because they are all pals. They all have plenty to say when it is someone they do not like, though. Do you all notice that?
Whatever your personal position on Schedler, I think we all agree that the Mayor and Council absolutely must do the right thing here.
Get in front of this with a formal reprimand and renunciation of Mr. Mueller’s comments.

Clearly this is a person who thinks that he can say and do almost anything he wants without any repercussions. He might just be right. It wasn’t that long ago that Mr. Muller used an email distribution list that didn’t belong to him. He took it from the Dad’s night group and send communications out not from RBSA but from Dad’s night. No one said anything. This person has been emboldened to believe that he is special and has special privileges and if it isn’t clear, the Mayor and ALL of the council, especially those that were there like Ms. Winograd and the village manager, Mr. Kazmark, said NOTHING. This is the Ridgewood you are living in and even if you support his organization, this kind of behavior is wrong.

I would believe that there is so much dirty money swirling around these organizations, especially RBSA. One group operates their 501C3 business office out of a private home. Wanna bet someone is getting a tax deduction. Only question is, what is dirtier, RBSA or the contamination at Schedler?

Curiously I took a look at their site. For anyone that has an issue with what their Board President said, aside from a public apology, they have a grievance policy.
The Ridgewood Baseball & Softball Association (“RBSA”), a Ridgewood, New Jersey-based organization providing youth baseball and softball programs, is committed to creating a positive, fair, and respectful environment. RBSA maintains a Grievance Policy to address complaints and suggestions related to its programs.
RBSA strongly encourages an open dialog between players, coaches, volunteers and board members. Often, disagreements and misunderstandings can be dealt with effectively and efficiently when they are articulated in a timely and responsible fashion to the appropriate people.
To the extent any complaint or misunderstanding cannot be resolved informally, players, parents, volunteers, or umpires can submit a grievance in written form to grievance@rbsa.us.
Any complaint that is critical, involves the safety and/or well-being of a child or involves the inappropriate conduct of any RBSA member, coach or other individual should be immediately directed to the RBSA at grievance@rbsa.us. For anonymous suggestions for improvement (NOT grievances), please use this form (go directly to site to download)
RBSA is committed to handling grievances in a timely fashion. Absent extraordinary circumstances, the Board will communicate its decision with respect to a grievance within 2 weeks.

Was Mary Lou Handy at this meeting? From what I understand it is attended by not only village council but also BOE members. I think she is the BOE representative for fields within the village. Did she say anything. I think she lives in the Schedler neighborhood too and people in town talk about how her husband has a car service and bores his riders to death about the Schedler field project. I wonder if she is vocal or not because of her husband. Either way, you’d think that someone would talk Muller down from the ledge. Someone has to.
This is where the shared services model of education starts coming into play with town council and BOE collaborating on a project. Growing pains I guess

No one should ever threaten a person or their property. I don’t believe that anyone should ever be treated that way by anyone let alone the board member of a sports organization. This goes for Scott Muller, anyone from any of the organizations the Mayor, council and the village manager. They are all complicit in this.
I think Scott. Muller should issue a written apology to the former Mayor, Knudsen and then read it publicly at the next council meeting. He went on record, after all. Start with I am sorry and you never should have said something like this. Otherwise resign.

I am a little late to the game here (pun intended) with my commentary, but just watched the village council meeting YouTube from 2 weeks ago and from what I heard in town, Kazmark, Perrin and Winograd were all in the room but no one said anything. At the council meeting, it wasn’t discussed nor were any comments made that this was very bad behavior by the RBSA board member and president Scott Muller from RBSA. Council person Winograd said that she wasn’t going to comment on “who said what or how it was said” therefore confirming for residents that she condones this kind of behavior as being an acceptable method of communicating going forward, in my opinion.
