Reader Gives a brief history of this money-pit debacle.

A brief history of this money-pit debacle.

1. The new Village manager, with the backing of her lefty base, thought it would be the right thing to do, to instal traffic-calming measures on a stretch of road that was badly in need to repair. No public discussion was invited.

2. A contractor was awarded the project and there does not appear to have been language in the contract regarding completion time.

3. Work starts and the public quickly learn of this major change to the Village’s one and only traffic link between the two sides of town. Outrage is the result and work is stopped.

4. Work eventually resumes, whereby much of the original work has to be put back the way it was and the project basically starts again.

5. The Village Manager issues a public statement regarding her displeasure at the length of time the project is taking, and talks of finding a new contractor.

Is it any wonder people don’t want the Government managing their health?

  1. This is fairly typical of how this administration operates. There are too many closed door meetings, too many back room deals and too many personal agendas. Public discussion only invites contrary opinions so why risk it. As a result, nothing that these 3 do ever smells right and they constantly bristle whenever anyone questions them.

The funny thing is they can’t seem to get out of their own way. They have made one public gaffe after another and have systematically swept everything under the rug. Even funnier is how they still come across as convinced that they know better than the rest of us. After nearly 3 years, this team has left the taxpayers with more questions than answers.

  2. She and the Council are more concerned about getting their parking garage then managing this fiasco. ( If you watch the council meeting last night) I can only imagine how they will manage the parking garage. They are going to run out of people to blame.

  3. Don’t ever let the facts get in the way of a good story. I agree the whole project was pretty stupid but… The entire thing was planned, designed, financed, and put in motion well before the new Village Manager was ever put in place.

  4. Yes #3 but she “was in place” well before the project started. Don’t
you think that she should have ask if there are any large project in the works so she could familiarize with the plans. Nice try. Maybe she was to preoccupied in kissing the Mayor’s rear end. If you saw last night meeting you would have seen her tell everybody how many hours our Mayor worked on the parking garage. Just as some has said on this blog. “Its his job” He wanted it. Maybe our Mayor should spend more time on other matters in town rather then his parking garage. Well she can alway resort to blaming BUSh.

  5. The story was corrected by #3. You can’t just make up a back story to the project.

I thought that this post was going to be a factual history, not just an opinion piece.

  6. Thanks Roberta

  7. #1, I wish you were right that the amigos were nearly 3/4 of the way through their term. They were sworn in on July 1, 2012. Although it feels like a decade, only slightly more than half of the four-year term has passed.

Let’s make it the final two years for all three of them. Important.

  8. Every time someone points out the truth you will call him/her Roberta? A bit juvenile.

    1. what truth were you pointing out???
