Stop wasting my tax money on this shit. Do you realize in 12 years now we spent 2 1/2 million dollars on this field do you remember all the floods we have there do you know much paving we can do for a half million dollars. My street was just paved , the last time that was repaved was over 25 years ago. I would rather see my tax money going towards replacing curbs and sidewalks then fake grass if anything you could use clean fill dirt and put down sod in with an a lot cheaper waste waste waste

Has anyone noticed what I have: Certain of the council members are brain dead and I don’t mean Voigt; he is not brain dead although I don’t always agree with him. I don’t want to mention names. Those who are brain dead have no idea of consequences of their plans for Ridgewood.
They just yes everything like zombies. How for example will the bees at Twinney Park affect school field trips to the park. Will the bees sting kids; what about the commuters who walk through Twinney’s to Park and Ride. First they planted milkweed for monarch butterfiles; now its bees.
Is the council aware that the employee parking lot is empty during the week. Like completely empty.
Council keep mentioning that restaurant diners don’t want to walk a couple blocks to restaurant. So they will build a parking garage that will not pay for itself we residents will be taxed for it. Diners will still have to walk from parking garage on Hudson St. to Walnut or Oak. Doesn’t council have any gumption, any principles that they will stick to? Don’t they realize shopping habits have changed, Yes consumers buy from Amazon or online. I see trucks delivering packages in my neighborhood everyday.
Council insists on taking away islands at train station: sure because none of council members commute everyday; so they don’t WANT TO KNOW how dangerous the parking lot is. Plus the diminished islands will discourage customers of farmers market. When islands are gone, too dangerous and crowded to venture to farmers market.
Give me a break; the council really needs to buy the Elks building for the water dept. Why now and not thirty years ago. If the water dept. employees cannot function in what two different locals what will cell phones and computers and skype and hey face phone , then hire new water employees. None of the current council members are getting my vote next election.
8.41. I fully agree. This VC is toothless and sorry to say dumb. I have a feeling a couple of these council members do not even want to be there but they enjoy the status. Village manager is not worth it either. No vote from me for any of them on the next election.
Maple was the first foray into FieldTurf. Experiment failed. Artificial turf and flood plains don’t mix. Go back to grass.
8:41 and Bruce-10:01, The current Council is not to blame. Like the post reads, “12 years now we spent 2 1/2 million dollars on this field.” The field decision was made long before this Council came around. Same goes for the garage and most other things. The current Council always said parking should be throughout the central business district, not at one location by the train. Meeting minutes reflect all of it. Take a look. Jeff Voight.is the only one that insists on carrying out the previous Council’s orders. The exact same mess that has us where we are today. This Council majority was stuck cleaning up and remedying a debacle left by others.
12.50. I think that “trying to clean up after last VC” is an old argument now. When I see what this VC has done with regards to water restrictions, water company, our terrible streets and sidewalks etc. I just can’t excuse them anymore. This VC is mediocre at best. They seem to be out of touch with our everyday issues.
Maple Turf Field
WAS a waste of money,
IS a waste of money
and WILL CONTINUE to be a waste of money in the future.
12:50… no members were against a garage… they were against THE garage… you may want to look in the meeting minutes… earlier this year the Deputy Mayor raised the other shorter design… which is in the meeting minutes.. As Casey Stengel said… “you can look it up”…
garage is a complete boondoggle slummaker..Fish is gone Amazon is cleaning out the global mom pop coo coo clock food shops ..
pave the surface lots Line those stalls with fresh paint.remove show and don’t barrel up on the curbing VOR DUMP TRUCKS AND SUBS
fine the employers who’s employees won’t park in fat cat stalls and below market rates ..
simple enough!l?.
WILL NEVER HAPPEN IN THE DECLING enterprise of VOR (village of Rot sadly.) refer to town garage as clearest example of mismanagement.
Back to the post.
The turf was a terrible decision years ago, of course we’ll make the same mistake again. Surprise us and spend some money on a natural green solution!
I feel the turf (even in it’s current state) has been a bonus to the town. There is no possible way that a grass field would be able to be utilized at 1/2 of the current use. A grass field would have been a mess and need additional funds to fix after the floods. Don’t automatically think a grass field costs less to maintain (unless you want a dirt field).
