Paramus NJ, A2 Enterprises is proposing to redevelop the corner property, of 697 Paramus Road and 143 W. Ridgewood Avenue which is currently a garden center that has occupied the space for ages into a 3,500-square-foot bank and drive-thru, and a 14,255-square-foot CVS drugstore and drive-thru.
The Mill and the Garden Center will be demolished but the Stephen Lutkins Historical House, will saved and relocated to the far corner of the redeveloped double-lot parcel. The Paramus Planning Board hearing is on Feb. 4 at 7 p.m.

Another bank…? Good God.
Why not a cafe a deli with good coffee and sandwiches close to the medical office , employees have to get in our cars to get food or order food to be delivered this would have been better then another bank even a Dunkin’ Donuts
Anyone know what’s going on with the old gas station across from the garden center? Pumps and storage tanks were removed.
Really, how much demand these days for bricks and mortar bank branches? If there will be a nice, new CVS on the corner with drive thru and parking … it doesn’t bode well for the Rite Aid (now WAGs) in downtown Ridgewood.
TD bank is closing April 23rd, just got letter in mail.
Why not more Low Income Housing or a GINORMOUS Garage?
Or are those developments reserved for woke slums like Ridgewood?
That would be a great location for a deli. That area is been a shit hole for a long time. And there’s nothing really there as in food. Poor Paramus it’s turning into I city, you can’t even move anymore in that town. So over congested.
14,200 sq ft CVS?? On that corner? It’s not a very deep lot. And why build there with all of the empty retail space available nearby??? Completely out of character with that area; there is no retail around except for Paramus Food Center. Not good for Paramus Pharmacy or Paramus Food Center or the neighbors. Horribly ugly gateway to Ridgewood.
Looking at the site plan, the are tearing down everything from Paramus Road up to the Saddle River.
They will be tearing down the two houses along Ridgewood Ave., and relocating the one that is a historic property to the back part of the lots. The CVS parking lot fronts Ridgewood Ave from the corner pf Paramus Road to the bridge into Ridgewood and the entrance and exit will be right before the bridge. 30 parking spaces along Ridgewood Ave., 15 along Paramus Road, and another 26 along the river. They have a left turn out onto Ridgewood Ave across four lanes of traffic where the road goes from two lanes to one and where the bus stop is. The portion of CVS fronting Ridgewood Ave will be retaining wall. Here is the site plan:

So sad watching Paramus turn into a big Metropolis, have lived here for over 50 years and have watched it go from a warm cozy community to a booming city. I know that business keeps our taxes low but have a heart, remember how it used to be. Guess there is no turning back but the memories of what used to be are sweet. Thoughts from an old grandma!
I feel for you grandma. It is horrible. Tearing down these towns in such ferocious way is like living a nightmare. No town is being spared. No space is going to waste. Build like there is no tomorrow. Local officials should be ashamed but they are all bought and sold by developers. You’ll be hard pressed to find a principled local official nowadays. And there is ZERO public backlash which makes it easier for them to destroy these suburbs.
How about an Aldi’s ? Or a market basket?
Healthbarn should purchase it and have a forever home
TD bank should be ashamed of themselves for closing the one on paramus rd. and the one on maple ave. in ridgewood. These are great branches and the people that work there are terrific. If that’s the way the people in charge of this feel we should all change banks.
Another forced left turn mid block like starbucks
Take out in town More Chaos for a store for gods sake
For TD bank to close both those branches shows how much they do not care about their customers so why should we care about them. Shame on you TD bank.
If the borough of paramus has any say in this they should put a stop to it.Every last little piece of land they find they have to build something on.It is disgusting to watch. If they want to put another bank there use the TD bank across the street because it is closing April 23rd anyway and it’s all set up to be a bank. Some day maybe this town will wake up.Probably not.
Oh no. I guess it is better than a self storage
Business. Those are EVERYWHERE!
Your right.
That forced left turn option will one day be another ugly traffic light
A third of a block to major intersection on paramus road and ridgewood ave…
We learn nothing from the mid block
Ridgewood drive through …
Totally need another CVS because the gigantic one they’re putting up in Midland Park just isn’t enough. This ridiculous plan is a car accident waiting to happen.
Does anyone know what their going to do with the gas station across the street?I saw they took the pumps and I guess the tanks out. Just wondering.I hope it’s something worth while.
If TD bank on Maple Ave is closing then I expect a giant apartment complex there. yeah I know it is a tight space but developers are pretty efficient with space nowadays. Go ahead and destroy the suburbs. Who know what the sick twisted minds are planning for that area of town?!
I do not know why all these towns are allowing all this stuff to go on.It has to be money. In my town of paramus every other day they are leveling another beautiful little ranch home to put up anot her monster house.I’m not saying they are terrible or ugly because some of them are beautiful,it’s just that I moved here in 1957 and it’s hard to see this going on.I know the rich people have a right to live here as much as I do but it does not change the way I feel.
TD bank has enough money to keep these terrific branches open for people and the wonderful employees. Now we have find another bank to get a safety deposit box if you can find one.Shame on TD bank.As soon as they close the 2 branches in paramus and on maple ave. in ridgewood I am changing banks, not that they care.SHAME SHAME SHAME TD BANK.
Remember Richie at Parkwood Mobile across from the nursury and Paul SchMeltzer owner of the Esso (Exxon) gas station where the TD bank is now. I worked there after graduating from Paramus High. Boy that was a great time when service statons were really something. Things sure have gone downhill at least in my opinion.I miss those days. Progress, you can have it.
60 parking spots is that necessary
12,000 sq ft building to sell aprons
Greedy greedy greedy
Ugly ugly ugly
Let’s not kid ourselves, have you ever heard of a developer successfully relocating a historic house. Oops it fell off the truck
And when they do manage to move it without a problem somebody sleeping in it sets it on fire and destroys the whole darn thing just like when they moved the grits mill or whatever it was at the old paramus bathing beach. $100,000 dollars, moving telephone lines tying up traffic and it burns to the ground. When this happened years ago I almost died laughing. What idiots.
TD bank could keep at least one of those branches open, either the one on paramus road or the one on maple ave, they don’t have to close both of them.
Does anyone know the name of that nursery?
Northern border tree farm.
What are they going to do with the gas station across from the nursery?
It’s been such a nice corner for years around Christmas time etc., why do they have to go and mess with it. It’s probably about money it always is.
Boy is TD bank going to lose a lot of customers by closing the maple ave. and paramus road branches, people are really mad, I hear it every day from people in town. I’m glad the people who own this bank do not run my business.
When are we going to get people in charge of the borough of paramus to finally put a stop to all this nonsense.Monster houses,A giant hospital on winters ave.,all the other stuff they have ruined, and now this beautiful little intersection, when is it going to stop. I’m not smart enough to do it but there must be someone who is and that actually cares about Paramus. And by the the way I thought your taxes were suppose to go down when they build up your town, mine went up this year $400.With all the business in this town Paramus residents should not have to pay any taxes.I’m sorry folks it’s just my personal opinion and the way I personally feel.Thank you.
I whole heartedly agree with you. This town is a mess. Have been living here 60+ years and have witnessed the town becoming so overdeveloped that you can barely move around in town. How many stores and McMansions do we need? Allow larger homes to be built so Paramus can collect more tax revenue. At the same time increase our property assessments and taxes substantially. I think Paramus is trying to clear out the low and lower middle classes and remake it a community for the rich ( those who can own one and two million dollar homes). And keep building high end stores.Need I say more?
Good for you Pat could not agree more.
Actually i’my going to take the hospital off my list on things because we really do need hospitals and the the people that work in them to help sick people so for that I apologize.
Don’t get yourselves all stressed out about whatever they are going to do. Just take care of you, your family, your house and don’the worry about it. Their going to do what they want and there are much more important things to worry about.
What is replacing the TD bank?
More money in the Paramus mayor and Paramus Borough attorney’s pocket. Shameful!
There has not been a mayor in Paramus for decades that has done the job the way it should be done and I have lived in Paramus since 1957 so I have seen it all.Shameful is putting it mildly.
So then why do you vote for these people?! Is Paramus voting along party lines as opposed to individual qualities? And by the way, Paramus is a mess. With all the construction going on it has become unrecognizable.
I DONT
Should have left it the way it was.
CVS to close 900 drugstores – so do they really need to redevelop here? Before they destroy the property and then abandon it – Paramus planning board should re-evaluate the application before it’s too late.
Paramus planning board should be replaced with people that actually care about paramus.
I really enjoyed seeing Christmas trees being sold this year at the nursery. A big thank you to whoever did that,I hope you made out really well.
There has not been a decent mayor in Paramus since mayor Cippola.
Hoppers lane in Paramus is unreal. There are only 4 houses left on that street that have not been leveled and a huge thing built in its place. I had a lot of friends that lived on Hoppers lane back in 60s and 70s. If you blindfolded me and took me to that street and took off the blindfold I would not know where I was. Very sad to see this happening because I’ve lived here my whole life.I went Annunciation school till 8th grade, then Westbrook for 9th, and then Paramus High for 10th,11th, and 12th grades graduating in 1969. It was nice back then. I could go on forever with this but there’s only a handful of people that really know what I mean.Good luck to everyone no matter where you live or how you feel about things,it’s your right.
Sorry I put this on the wrong site.
