Republicans Must Support Ukraine

Freedom is under assault on a global level. From the growth of authoritarianism in free countries during covid (for example, Canada’s use of the formerly titled War Measures Act to shut down peaceful protests) to Putin’s efforts to erase an entire democratic nation from the map as anything more than his puppet, freedom is under siege. Republicans must continue to lead efforts to protect freedom because of the dire consequences that will follow if it goes to the wayside – and in this current conflict that means supporting Ukraine.

Republicans have been on the front lines defending freedom since the GOP’s founding as the anti-slavery party of Abraham Lincoln. Notwithstanding the inverted leftist revisionist history indoctrinated into children at schools – it was the GOP that supported enshrining equality in law by overwhelmingly supporting civil rights legislation. When the Democrats wanted ‘accommodation’ (ie appeasement), it was the GOP which stood up to the USSR demanding the Berlin Wall be torn down and the people be freed. It was GOP leaders who successfully protected vulnerable populations against a new virus without pushing an authoritarian compliance culture pitting neighbor against neighbor. Today, our party is called upon to stand for freedom for all peoples once more. Today, Republicans must stand with Ukraine, the nation in which tens of thousands of civilians are bearing arms to defend their freedom.

Republicans must do so knowing the lessons of recent history. While the US can be the arsenal of democracy, we cannot be the world’s policeman serving as de facto beat cops patrolling other nations. But as Republicans we must support free nations when they are victim of aggression by totalitarian dictators. We Republicans recognize that the US has a vital national interest in democratic Ukrain’s battle for freedom from Putin’s illegal invasion.  Just as Ukrainian’s have been called neo-Nazi’s by Putin because they have individual freedoms he does not tolerate in Russia (and despite having a popularly elected Ukrainian Jewish president); Republicans know what it is like to be victim of the cancel culture accusations that we are neo-Nazi and racist because we will not bow before the domestic left’s authoritarian disregard for the bill of rights.

Republicans know that if Ukraine falls and Putin remains unchecked that the dominoes will tumble and a globe spanning chaos will ensue as the world enters a new era of war, trade is further disrupted, and the US and global economy enters a 2nd Great Depression. As nations around the world resume invasion as a norm, the immigration crisis at our southern border will seem a pittance to what will come as the worlds suffering millions will flee to the US. Republicans know that abstaining from military adventurism and engaging in diplomacy does not require the application of a soft touch. We can and should contain Putin to preserve US national interests by embargoing Russia, immediately and continuously providing a supply of arms and ammunition to not only to the people of Ukraine but to the Caucasus Mountain nation of Georgia (of which 20% is illegally occupied by Russia), and by moving our bases currently in Germany into the Baltic, Eastern European, and Scandinavian states.

President Reagan, one of our nation’s greatest presidents stood firm against the USSR and without engaging in open war defeated them. President Trump stood firm against Putin, which is why this invasion of Ukraine happened under President Biden’s watch not Trumps. Both Presidents’ Reagan and Trump respected our enemy’s ability and intelligence, and both prevented the growth of Russian imperial tyranny on their watch. Now it is up to the GOP, the party of individual freedom, not only to remind the Democrats how they (and President Obama in particular) engaged in mockery when our former Presidential candidate Mitt Romney identified Russia as a major threat to the world, but that US national interests are in danger and that we must support Ukraine.

Without spilling a drop of American blood we can check Putin and prevent the coming global chaos that will harm the US and plunge the world into economic depression. It’s up to Republicans to join with the Ukrainian and other immigrant communities formerly abused by the Russo-Soviet empire to advocate to our elected and party officials that enough is enough. It’s time to help Ukraine. It’s time to defend freedom.

  3. The headline shouldn’t be “Republicans Must Support Ukraine” – it should be “Americans Should Support Ukraine”. This isn’t a time to hype differences – there will be plenty of time for that. We should be working together on what we can and should do!

      2. Congrats on running headfirst into the point, and still managing to miss it.

  4. US purposefully led Ukr towards a war with Russia. Washington has been running Ukr foreign policy for the last 8 years. The CIA and state department armed and trained Ukr army to fight a proxy war against Russia. All that’s happening now is Washington plan. They expect to reap benefits across the board: weaken Russian army and economy, reduce EU dependence on Russian natural resources (in favor of US-controlled suppliers), enable the green new deal by elevating prices of oil and gas… Ukr is going to pay the price of our adventurism, just like Yugoslavia, Iraq, Syria, Libya and others did.

  5. Where has the support been for the thousands of ethnic Russians being beaten, harassed and marginalized by the Neo-Nazi Ukrainian army since 2014? Or the fact that the Ukraine has, and continues to breach the Minsk Agreement signed by Poroshenko?

    1. Lawrence Phelps = Russian BOT? Minsk agreements have never been successfully implemented and Putin declared the Minsk agreements dead 3 weeks ago. What is the true source of this Pro-Putin propaganda?

      1. Your senseless and futile attempt to “cancel” me with any real knowledge has failed you, and your moniker “anonymous” seems apt.
The Ukraine, by the hand of the US, has been breaching the Minsk Agreement since 2014. Putin canceled nothing that hadn’t been ignored.
Further, you fail to answer the charges of Neo-Nazism or the humanitarian issues.
Neither the Ukraine nor the, ahem, “US President”, can escape the core blame for the terrible tolls we are experiencing globally, and nor can you as their apologist.

      2. On March 8, the Kyiv government continued to sabotage the evacuation of civilians via humanitarian corridors established by Russia despite the collapse of the Ukrainian forces’ defense in the southern part of the country and the complex situation in the northeast.

On March 5, 6 and 7, Kyiv forces already denied the organized evacuation of civilians from Kharkiv, Kyiv, Mariupol, Sumy and Mykolaiv. Only a small number of civilians were able to withdraw from the blockaded cities. Many died under the shelling by Ukrainian forces that ignored the ceasefire regime established along the humanitarian corridors. Pro-Kyiv units intentionally opened fire at civilians that were seeking to withdraw towards the territory controlled by Russia and the people’s republics of Donbas. On top of this, the Ukrainian side claimed that it was not acceptable to evacuate civilians towards the territory controlled by the Russians. Without doubt, Kyiv’s forces need these people in its hands to use them as human shields and create the image of a humanitarian catastrophe amid the setbacks on the battlefield.

  6. I’m an immigrant from former USSR and have spent a lot of time in Ukraine. To the question, should Ridgewood residents support Ukraine, my position is, you have no idea what’s going on there. All you can do is virtue signal. Just like you did with BLM 2 years ago. Stick to your core competencies: golf, watching football and ordering in restaurants.

  7. The PR arm of the DNC, otherwise known as the mainstream media, are trying to create a narrative that Republicans are somehow pro Russia and anti Ukraine. It’s an act of political desperation given the polls as we head towards mid-terms. After all, you can’t blame them, as it worked with Covid.

  8. utin is a spanner in the works of the Great Reset. But how, exactly? Russia imposed a lockdown, rolled out its own Covid vaccine and Putin attended Davos in 2021.”
In this podcast from Whitney Webb-Unlimited, Moscow based journalist, Riley Waggaman, talks about how Putin seems to be fully on board with Schwab’s COVID-19 plandemic, the gene therapies and how Russia is working with JP Morgan on a cryptocurrency.
Could you get any entity or person that is more Klaus Schwab or Cabal than JP Morgan?
Then there’s all the very wealthy Russian oligarchs that Putin allowed to flee to London, and who donated very generously to the Tory Party when they got there – and who then, of course, were given residential status. Evil despots usually don’t allow exiles to take vast fortunes with them as they are chased from their homelands. Alex Thomson, in the UK Column, reports on this.
Riley Waggaman also reports on how Putin recently allowed oligarchs to leave Russia with large hoards of gold bullion, and with no obligation on them to deposit the sale price in Russian banks.
Also, according to this Russian based journalist, Putin bought copious amounts of gene therapies from the West and repackaged them as being Russian manufactured and dished them out to the Russian people.
Many people to the Right of conservatives think that the oligarchs that fled to London and donated heavily to the Tories had fallen out with Putin and were exiled by him. This leads them to believe that these exiled oligarchs were of the Cabalist CBDC types, which in their conservative minds makes Putin a White nationalist and patriot.
I suspect, though, they are all part of the Schwab/Globalist scheme and it simply suits the New World Order to let people believe Putin had exiled them.
The CIA and other intelligence services use a form of psychological warfare to keep people unsure and confused by feeding them truths, half-truths and lies. When you feed citizens something that is half-truth and half-lie, a little bit of what they’ve been told will fit-in with what they already believe. So, you feed them lies mixed with truth over a period of time, and slowly the entire lie will be implanted in their heads. The CIA has used this technique along these lines for decades. And it has worked quite well for them.
The ploy of half-truths/half-lies might also be working to convince many people that Putin isn’t onboard with Schwab’s Great Reset. Not only on the Left do people think Putin was left with no option but to invade Ukraine, many on the Right also believe this, but for different reasons.
You have to hand it to them that they got people from opposite ends of the political spectrum to believe the same lie for different reasons.
The upshot of people believing this is that to them it’s proof that Putin isn’t in any way cooperating with the Globalist Elite that controls the West. Believing this removes any and all suspicions that the war in Ukraine is a distraction from the gene therapies and plandemic.
I suspect this war is further meant to distract both Left and Right when the Western pyramid scheme debt-based economies crash and burn in a couple of years. The penury will simply be the aftermath of the war.

  9. Bush, Obama, and Trump were leaders. Whether or not you liked their leadership style, doesn’t change the fact that that they were leaders. Biden and company are not leaders.
