Ridgewood NJ, big news for Ridgewood High School! The RHS Marching Band has just won the USBands Group 4A National Championship with an impressive score of 94.3! Not only did they bring home the national title, but they also won awards for Best Overall Effect and Best Color Guard, marking their triumphant return to the top for the first time since 1997.
This incredible victory caps off a historic season for the band, which also won the New Jersey State Championship earlier this year. To the best of our knowledge, this is Ridgewood’s 4th (or perhaps 5th, if you count both titles this year!) championship ever:
- 1980 – EMBA Championship (Director: Chris Wilhjelm)
- 1992 – CMBC Group 3 Open Champion (Director: Jeffrey Haas)
- 1997 – US Scholastic Group 4A Silver Champion (Director: Jeffrey Haas)
- 2024 – USBands Group 4A NJ State & National Champion (Director: John Luckenbill)
This is a moment of pride for the Ridgewood community and a significant milestone in the band’s history. If you have memories from past championship seasons—whether from 1980, 1992, or 1997—we’d love to hear your stories! Share them below and let’s celebrate this incredible legacy together!
