Ridgewood Native Scottie Scheffler Wins Olympic Gold in Men’s Golf

Ridgewood NJ, Scottie Scheffler the worlds number one golfer has added another prestigious title to his impressive golf resume: Olympic champion.

Born in Ridgewood and raised in Montvale, Scheffler clinched the gold medal on Sunday in the men’s individual golf tournament at the 2024 Olympics in France.

A Triumphant Performance

Scheffler, who attended Our Lady of Mercy Academy in Park Ridge before moving to Texas at age six, delivered a stunning performance, shooting a 62 on Sunday to charge to the top of the leaderboard. This remarkable round propelled the 28-year-old to victory in his first Olympic appearance.

Finishing at 19 under at Le Golf National, Scheffler secured the gold medal, with Great Britain’s Tommy Fleetwood finishing one shot behind to take silver. Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama claimed the bronze with a score of 17 under.

  1. I think Scheffler was born at Valley Hospital and was brought home to Montvale. Then the family moved to Texas when he was 7 or 8.
