Ridgewood NJ, the recently released Village parks and recreation flyer has sparked concern among Ridgewood residents, particularly a local advocacy group known as Just Us 4 Justice. The group voiced their frustration on the Village’s Facebook page, highlighting serious environmental concerns that they believe have been overlooked by the local government.
In their comment, Just Us 4 Justice pointed out that public parks, water, and recreational facilities contaminated with hazardous substances pose significant risks to the community, wildlife, and the environment. The group criticized the Village of Ridgewood for not informing residents about the contamination issues, particularly in relation to “dirty soil” that the Village reportedly facilitated.
“Why is that? You might also want to dedicate a repeat post to the dangers in the water,” the group wrote, urging the Village to be more transparent about these environmental hazards.
The comment also included links to several reports, including the 2024 Water Report and a detailed document outlining the presence of contaminants such as Benzo[a]pyrene, Benzo anthracene, and Mercury in local areas.
Residents are encouraged to review these reports and stay informed about the potential risks associated with local parks and water facilities. The situation underscores the importance of community awareness and the need for proactive communication from local authorities regarding environmental safety.

Vote Vagianos out
Yes from everyone
They need to check all parks now . Especially Habernickle where there is a business based around soil and a garden. And Graydon where children are always playing in the sand and dirt
No one is going to trust anyone from the village anymore. They lost all their credibility. They put employees In danger. No one can argue that. No one knows what’s going to happen down the road with these employees Health. Don’t you think the mayor the council the Village manager the health department should reach out to all current and retired employees that were working at these locations. Maybe they should be tested. The village is not being proactive at all. They just putting themselves in a deeper and deeper lawsuit.
Did Peewee resign this morning…?
It would be the right thing to do.
Village of Ridgewood social media is a dog and pony show, far from the realities residents are facing.
True. Village of Ridgewood is quick to post/tell you about movies in the park but not a peep on the dangerous water and hazardous park contaminations.
Don’t trust any of them. They are all full of shit. Whoever was in charge in 2019 should be immediately discharged. They knew what was going on. If not, they are telling us that they are real stupid and obviously they weren’t performing up to their standards of their title job. so who would argue that. This is unacceptable. The village doesn’t even have a final cost of removing all this contamination. how are they going to budget for that . Insurance is not paying this it is their screwup.
And apparent dangers in the parks, playgrounds and gardens
Who Is Peewee?

Get it now…?
I think Vag. Or, maybe a woman named Ina.
I think they should test the soil at community gardens. I wouldn’t need anything from there. Can you imagine how much contamination is in that soil from the brook from all the flooding. They Don’t court in fresh clean topsoil for that garden that’s all garbage.
The word is out. No one is definitely gonna trust the village in any which way anymore. How can they look what they’ve been doing for so many years. The same thing has been going on over and over people need to be. released from the Positions that they’re in, because obviously they are corrupt
Admittedly, most of the decisions about using the obviously contaminated soil (just needed to look where it came from) were made years ago. However, the present Council, except for one, were in such a rush to get their soccer field that they did not hesitate to cover-up any thoughts of a problem. No matter how you look at it now, it’s going to take a fortune to fix it. Since the continued cover-up was so heavily denied by the current members of the Council please make sure you vote against the ones you can and impeach the others. Only one of them deserves to have anything to do with the future management of Ridgewood! And, does Ridgewood have any sort of insurance against failure to honestly try to perform the duties of a town employee or past and present council members?
