Ridgewood Soccer Coach Let Go After Raising Concerns About Artificial Turf Field Project

RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Amy McCambridge, a longtime Ridgewood soccer coach and Marine Corps veteran, says she was let go from her position with the Maroons Soccer Club after she spoke out about the borough’s plan to install artificial turf at the Schedler property.

The Schedler site, which saw Revolutionary War activity and sits near the Paramus Church and next to Route 17, is located in a New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection-designated overburdened community and has become the focus of local and regional debate.

Residents have expressed concerns about environmental and historical impacts related to the town’s planned artificial turf sports complex project. Among their concerns are soil quality that was given to the town for free according to public record, and the town’s plans to install artificial turf and remove over 180 mature and healthy trees spanning over seven acres at Schedler.

McCambridge, who coached in Ridgewood for nearly two decades, says she voiced these concerns publicly and privately.

“I spoke up because I felt I had a responsibility to protect the kids,” McCambridge said.

After raising questions about the turf project, McCambridge said she was informed by the club that her services would no longer be needed.

“They told me they had to keep stakeholders happy,” she said. “I don’t know who they meant by that, but I know the parents appreciated me speaking up.”

Some local parents have expressed disappointment over McCambridge’s seemingly forced departure, describing her as a dedicated coach who always prioritized player safety.

“This isn’t just about a coach losing her job,” one parent said. “It’s about supporting a coach who cared about the kids and was raising scientific and medical facts about the dangers of artificial turf.”

McCambridge is considering all her options, including seeking advice from legal professionals and advocacy groups.

“My service to this country taught me that silence in the face of wrongdoing is not an option,” she said. “I will continue to speak up until this community is safe, especially when it comes to protecting children.”

    1. Then why did they keep her for 20 years? This argument will not fly in the court.

        1. If you are going to snipe at someone with no information to back it up “anonymous” is the way to do it 🙄😡

          1. OK Karen

    2. Not true at all, this is probably coming from one of the five moms whose husbands were on the football board and baseball board that complained and despite what this could do to your kids, you guys could care less . I could easily have 100 people counter what you’ve said.

    3. That is BS and she was there forever. Nice try. I’ll bet you think that you’re trying to help the morons, oh I mean the maroons by putting up a false claim propaganda. People know the tryth and free soeech should not be taken away from anyone. Shame on you. Nice try but it doesn’t fly!!

    4. Did you though? Or did you just want the other coach ? So you slandered her name to get what you wanted, you are all vile adult bullies.

    5. If the average Ridgewood libtard parent hated someone, they can’t be that bad.

    6. you don’t even know anything, they had her for over 20 years and all the kids loved her.

      10
    7. Really? Funny, so very untrue!

    8. You heard wrong Karen

    9. Says the Mom‘s who targeted her in the first place😂😂. Amy has produced some of the best teams that have ever come through Ridgewood. To the seven-year-old mom click, you guys should be ashamed of yourselves.

      1. Ouch! So everyone knows exactly who they are? Everyone!

        1. The U8 “A” team Travell moms and Finston.

          1. Wow!! The list has been released. The U8 A moms and Finston family are as dirty as they come. They threaten and request specific teams and coaches, reveal the dirt Ridgewood. The truth always comes out.

            1. Alex Finston, always complaining. Total whiner. If his kids can’t play organized sports he doesn’t know what to do with them. Not sure why people like actually have children!

              1. I haven’t seen a post that has boasted more truth than this Dr. G. Vile, competitive Finston family, mean and work dirty paying off MSC for their benefit.

    10. This of course is untrue. Amy was an excellent coach.

  7. she was a terrible coach. parents hated her.

    4
    25
    1. You mean you and your 5 cronies? You mean the terribly mean things you wrote in the maroons survey threatening to pull your children out of the program if Amy was your coach and not a certain other coach. You all got exactly what you begged for in your complaints. I hope you sleep well at night with your bullying, harassing comments.

      13
    2. Did they? Why keep her for 20 years then?

  8. This was wrong and it’s a bad look for the program. Her status as a Vet has nothing to do with our free speech. Anyone should be able to speak his/her mind.

Maroons are too political. Free speech for all!

    21
    1
    1. If you speak up in Ridgewood you are bullied by the council, the engineer and the VM. I have proof of it all but I am scared to speak up any longer. Look what happens if you do. I wish there was something that could be done about this VM and council and some of the Ridgewood employees

      23
  9. MSC is a terribly run club. Rotten from the top down. A supposed non-profit.

    13
    1
    1. why is it terribly run?

      1. It is a social club for the parents, is not interested in the best athletes and thus rarely wins. Massive investment in time for the kids (at the expense of a well rounded athlete, and lack of good exposure to other sports) and large waste of money (rich and stupid) for the parents.

    2. Pwer the website

Maroons is an organization committed to developing soccer players in northern New Jersey, including Ridgewood, Glen Rock, Waldwick, Ho-Ho-Kus, Paramus, Fair Lawn, Hawthorne and other communities in Bergen & Passaic County, NJ.

Time to leverage fields in Glen Rock, Waldwick, Ho-Ho-Kus, Paramus, Fair Lawn, Hawthorne and other communities in Bergen & Passaic County, NJ.

      5
      2
  10. Karma is a bitch!

The Mayor will make money from all his sleezy deals. That karma will come back with illness.

His puppets on the dais will get no money, but because they are part of this karma to make hundreds of children sick, the sickness will come back to them in this lifetime.

    Karma is very powerful!!

    11
    3
  11. James Feeney, the new Maroons club president, a tiny narcissist who lives through his kids was the one behind this decision. I even heard that Amy was the coach of his daughter. Shameful.

    8
    1
    1. easy to be anonymous and post this. weak. does it say anything that the new club president fired her after she was the coach of his kids? what would the casual observer say? sounds like her coaching chops aren’t what she thinks they are.

      3
      8
      1. It shows he’s a coward. You can ask any parents on that team, probably including his own daughter what she has done for those kids. you can ask any parent of the thousands of girls she has coached what she has done for their daughters, mine included

        13
        1
        1. don’t see how he’s a coward. if anything it says he is the opposite. took action immediately.

          3
          6
          1. Yes he started a political witch hunt. I hope all of their sponsors and advertisers distance themselves from this debacle cause its not over.
That might show them they are not that powerful and almighty

          2. Let’s see what kind of immediate action he takes when this goes viral and RW and all of the towns that enroll kids find out what is behind the veil of the Maroons SC. What if funding gets pulled.

            1. The board underestimated Amy. She will get her justice. I doubt this is far from over.

      2. sure after 20 years
see how that argument holds up in court

    2. sue the president, the board members and the co-heads of coaching

  12. Stakeholders, you mean the Sleaze ball Mayor and his puppets!

    12
  13. Sue the board – make them disclose their finances publicly.

    1. can wait until we see the finances from amy’s non-for-profit

  14. She has a history of issues in this town and with this town, not sure why she continues live here. She’s always the victim, so there is always more to the story…

Everyone appreciates military veterans (including her husband), but that has had nothing to do with this situation. Turf fields are used to offset maintenance which includes the constant use of gas powered motors, watering, seeding and a lot of money. I agree the high school field has been an issue that hasn’t been addressed correctly with better retaining walls, dredging the River and raising the playing field with subsurface storm water management, but that has nothing to do with this field.

Don’t buy the headline, take a look at this person’s history and make sure you want to back her. There is a long history history here….

    17
    18
    1. To Anonymous that wrote, “ Turf fields are used to offset maintenance which includes the constant use of gas powered motors, watering, seeding and a lot of money.”

Ah, I see—so how much are we ‘saving’ by swapping a lawnmower for asthma inhalers, cancer, and chopping down hundreds of trees? Sounds like a bargain… for everyone except the kids and humanity.

      16
      1
      1. Look at how many turf fields there are in other towns, professional sports and colleges. We feel this is only a problem in Ridgewood? What trees are being saved in either situation if you are building a field? It’s always something… This was originally pitched as a baseball field many years ago. It would have been grass, dirt and clay, but soccer petitioned to make another multi-use field. Once that happened it became turf for minimal maintenance and upkeep. Now, we are saying the turf is harmful, so abandon the whole idea… When does this end. You are mad that they are pulling the trigger on this as opposed to allowing it to just sit idle and continue to have debates over the next plan. This is similar to the Graydon Pool debate. It was ‘Leave it alone’ or ‘Make it into Action Park’, nothing in between.

The Town should reassess all the fields in town and make them for specific use. Glen school, Somerville, Hawes, Orchard and Habernickel are all used for multiple sports. Baseball/Softball are unique to Soccer/Lacrosse/Football. Allocate the space to specific use and then make your changes. If we stuck with this being a varsity baseball this wouldn’t even be a debate.

        3
        7
        1. Hate to tell you but habernickle is over used. Baseball and soccer every weekend, practices during the week and parks and rec sports going on too. I guess that’s why this particular very small neighborhood field is getting bathrooms and a giant pavilion. And don’t forget a large business that has kids coming 6 days a week all day and some nights to take over the entire park. They bus them in! So do your homework before you include Habernickle in the UNDER used category! And not too mention how run down and dirty it looks lately. Gross

          2
          4
          1. Nobody said underused, read again. Misused, make it just baseball or soccer. They don’t plan field use well because there are too many multi-use fields. That field was poorly planned anyway because after rains it’s a mess…

            1. Yes thank you for the correction. But it is definitely an over used field/park because of the never ending business. If the business was not there the field and parking would be much better. I never get a spot when I bring my kids to play on a Saturday. There are parties at the business all day

              1
              1
          2. Not sure why a thumbs down. Must be from a fan of a business in a busy park or someone who is clueless about what really goes on at Habernickle all day everyday and all day all summer long Ridiculous. People are so ignorant

            1
            2
        2. Sorry, but I need to tell you that you are badly informed regarding artificial turf. It’s not less expensive, it has a short lifespan and at the end it cannot be recycled. So you think you’re saving money, but you’re only delaying payment, leaving the burden of disposing of it to the kids who will be poisoned while playing on it. This information is out there for those who want to learn about it.

        3. To “Look at how many turf fields there are in other towns” Clearly you have not been paying attention to anything anyone has said about the Schedler project. It is a unique piece of property and therefore requires a unique set of circumstances in order not to overdevelop it. It was deemed historic on both the national registry and that of the state of NJ. The state has the final say and if Vagianos and Kazmark work their combined political connections, maybe they will get close but it won’t come without a serious price on so many levels. It has already been a polarizing project, one that will likely take a while to come together because of all of the contaminated soil that must be properly removed. This council is a sneaky bunch of schemers with a small group of civic supporters, but they are backed by all of the sports organizations who have had their eye on the ball to do whatever it takes to pay for their municipal leaders loyalty on the council who will give them what they desire. Vagianos will happily put his hand in anyone’s pocket for favor or fame and has protected the sports bullies who have taken out their aggression on innocent residents, so as a mayor, in the eyes of many, he is a failure.

    2. wisest post yet. always the victim, always being wronged. at what point do people realize that’s she’s the one in the wrong?

      3
      8
      1. Wrong for what? And when has she been a victim? She can be outspoken and absolutely, but a victim, I would say she’s anything but a victim. And how is she in the wrong, she is utilizing her right to free speech, to bring light to an issue that is extremely important that is being downplayed by the sports clubs.

        10
      2. Well from what I have seen, the sports dudes and dudettes all pull their kids out on display in their uniforms on a school night no less to cry almost real tears, about how they need another field, are they victims too? They sure act like it. Also, you may want to get your facts straight before you you lob a grenade or pin a scarlet letter on someone within your own community when you don’t know what happened. If you are going on hearsay, which I am guessing you are, then zip it. Act like an upstanding citizen in the community where you walk with others and behave respectfully. Until you walk a mile in someone else’s shoes and have hard facts, it is none of your business to spread lies.

    3. How am I am victim? Because I raise issues that are important? Please tell me what is the history that you seem to know about me so well? We have seen some horrible things happen in Ridgewood that have been ignored and pushed under the rug, I’m not the type of person to ever remain silent on those issues. You can say whatever you want about me, those who know who I am, and my character know my truth. You clearly do not, which is fine, that is your right to say whatever you want.

      18
      1
    4. 100%!!!! She’s been spreading ridiculous rumors for years about some pedophile who still lives in town and interacts with kids, and everyone knows who that is and sweeps it under the rug! She’s never provided any evidence or support for this claim.

She seems to hate Ridgewood and yet, she continues to live and work here.

Not to mention, she is a raging antisemite!!

      Good riddance!!

      2
      18
      1. Those who know Amy know that she is not spreading any false rumors. What she stated in the past is very much true. To protect the victims, there’s not much that she can say.

        9
        2
      2. Not a rumor – the victim can be reading this, so be wary of bringing up things with a specific context – I’m sure if the person who did the horrific acts read this, he’d be happy knowing people don’t know what happened – just because you may disagree with somebody doesn’t mean you can denote their past – I know the person affected, and I hope you never have to go through what they did – nor your family members – disagree with amy all you want, you can disagree with her business coaching and past, but what happened truly affected my friend, and I truly hope nobody has to experience it

      3. Hiding behind your “anonymous” tag to avoid slander lawsuit??

        2
        1
      4. There is a known sex offender in Ridgewood. Check information online, a simple Google search.

    5. Maybe that is true but it doesn’t mean that the town is not full of bullies in high places. I feel this time she is a victim You should not be fired for freedom of speech No one should be bullied for freedom of speech and quality of life just for others to make a profit.

      10
    6. Maintenance would have been much less than what it has cost to repair damaged artificial turf after repetitive flooding.

    7. Lame excuse to say that turf is a simple fix to offset. What a load of crap. Why, because Ridgewood cannot seem to get their act together to maintain grass fields. What if turf means harm to players, to the environment? It is people like you who let these sports groups run rampant. They make money, plain and simple. More turf means more field hours, means more more more $$$$$$ for whoever is getting paid or paid off by the sports teams.

    8. Don’t hurt yourself falling from you ivory tower. So if you’ve ever had an issue in the village you are saying it isn’t legit? Then you have ruled out most of the town.

    9. you are bitch to say “why she continues to live here”

      1. So people should leave a town they love because our council is greedy and the whole town is mismanaged. Maybe the employees and department heads should do a better job or leave their job. Half of them are not very bright and have freaked havoc. How about all the issues the engineering department had to undo.

All their mistakes cost the tax payers money. Why should tax payer leave when the issues come from the people we pay!

    10. How much is offset when you have to replace the turf field for 10 million dollars every 7-10 years?

Not to mention the increased rate of cancer and autism diagnosis around these fields.

    11. And what is the history? You’re too cowardly to post your name, please tell me the history on myself, I would love to know from someone who doesn’t even even have the courage to post their name..

      1. Yes Amy! You tell them, cowards on here.

  15. Amy McCambridge stood up for what’s right—clean air, healthy kids, and preserving our trees. Ridgewood needs more people like her, not fewer. This decision is a disgrace.

    17
    1
  16. Firing someone for speaking out about valid concerns is a terrible message to send to the community. Thank you, Coach McCambridge, for putting kids and nature first.

    17
  17. And the responsible individuals are:

    1. congrats. you’ve mastered the internet.

      2
      2
    2. I believe Clay resigned the day was fired, James Feeney was the one handling all of the meetings and is the new club president, which is not a good thing for the Maroons.

      1. shocking if true! lol

      2. Good luck, Jim Feeney. You’re going to need it after this debacle. Spin this web fast before you lose all of those valuable kiddies. I mean their parents valuable money.

      3. Why did he resign amidst all of this? Was he scared the world would find out certain families in Ridgewood are paying him to get their kids on “the” team ?

        Smells funky.

    3. Are these paid positions?

      1. the finances of the MSC are outrageous – sue and make them disclose in discovery.

      2. The board members are volunteers. This does appear to be the list published on the maroons website but is not updated.

      3. No they are volunteers

    4. This is an outdated list – not accurate

    5. Two of the worst DOC’s in the history of the club. I believe that there was things that were taken to the board that were very serious about what these trainers were saying about some of these young girls, but that was never addressed, Amy gets fired they get promoted..

  18. What kind of example are we setting for our children when we punish someone for advocating for their health? Stand strong, Coach McCambridge—you have our support.

    12
    1. the kids have no respect for their a88kissing parents

  19. 20-Year Ridgewood Coach Fired After Questioning Artificial Turf—Why Is Turf Taking Priority Over Kids’ Health?

    14
    1. donate to a woman who doesn’t know how to make a living? lordy. no.

      2
      13
      1. How does this make any sense? She made her living coaching.

      2. Turf is not what everyone thinks it is. Colleges are opting for grass now because of the side effects of having a turf field. Amy shouldn’t be fired for speaking up.

Really because she worked for the Maroons for 20 years!

      3. Doesn’t know how to make a living? She was a f€cking US Marine, for God’s sake. Raised children. Coaches soccer. Do you say that about all of the stay at home social sluts, too?

        10
        1
      4. She has done more by 40 than most of you saying these negative comments will ever do in a lifetime.

    2. no shame to her game – asking others to fund her pet projects.

      2
      7
      1. Amy McCambridge is a veteran Marine, works a full time job, and is CEO and co-founder of the Unbridled Heroes Project, a nonprofit that leverages equine-assisted programs to aid fellow veterans. The project offers emotional based therapy and refuge to veterans. Her and her husband (also Marine Veteran) are up and working 4 jobs before most people. What did you do today and how many people have you helped?
        #shutyourmouth

Her project is changing lives, not just any life, lives of those that fought for your freedom and rights-all so we can sleep safely.

        13
      2. To “no shame in her game” Just wondering how you would categorize sports organizations that rely on donations and sponsorships while charging an enrollment gee? Business and residents are paid sponsors for the the Maroons, for example., Asking others to fund a money making operation through sponsorships is what then?? As far as I am aware, Amy’s charity isn’t a money generating operation and her soccer coaching dollars were used to support the organization. You must have ice running through your veins to make a comment like that.

        5
        0
  20. not surprising….the thing that people forget is that the Maroons is a private club…..they only care about themselves……

  21. Less us not forget the lacrosse coach who was suspended for her jealousy toward a varsity lax player Lindsay Devir a few years ago. Same class from RHS, bad bunch.

    5
    4
  22. Where are the parents of RBSA baseball kids, letting the president of the board of RBSA get away with an unethical and highly questionable statement on record, that he strongly suggested that the contaminated dirt from the schedler property be dumped on the former mayor’s front lawn and yet he has not and likely will not step down from his position. You’ve gotta question the moral aptitude of these sports organizations and stakeholders. When we allow this behavior and the bullying to continue.

    1. Dumping on the lawn was out of bounds, but someone from the administration facing consequences for that act is not. They were either complicit or incompetent.

  23. given all the attackers of Amy in the comments the KICK BACK from the turf field must be huge

    7
    1
    1. after the High School Turf Field most of the promoters took their money and moved out of town

      1. 🫶 Amy’s diverse roles—from Marine to CEO, coach to advocate—illustrate a deep commitment to service and community healing. I gladly donated (and will continue to donate) to her work of military service, environmental protection, mental-health advocacy, athletic empowerment, and animal-assisted therapy.

  24. The town wants to raise taxes with that increased open field assessment!

    1. That’s nothing. Wsit to see what happens with your taxes when Valley doesn’t come through? When the Schedler sports complex is Ridgewood’s largest expenditure. You are going to really see what kind of weasel Vagianos and Kazmark are and ypu can blame the rest of the
Council too because they are all in on this.

  25. It sounds to me that the Board of Education don’t like her voice and her opinion. They don’t like teaches with opinions, you do as I say not as I do mentality. Any teacher that’s against the Astroturf fields are bucking the system. When you book the system you’re rocking the boat, when you make waves you’re a threat so they get rid of you. They don’t want you to think. They want you to listen and do. That’s the new generation. Good luck. And bring your own toilet paper to work because they’re cutting back.

    1. They want puppets like Mary Miccale and Mary Lou Handy on the BOE, who will follow along blindly without asking any critical questions on important topics. Seat fillers.

    2. Yup

  26. Is this green plastic garbage a religion now or something? Fight to the death for it?

    1. There are probably huge kickbacks. Who is in line to get theirs?

  27. Ridgewood parent bullies loud and anonymous per usual I see. Grow up ladies and gents, you are the issue. Mean, threatening calls, emails and survey answers to get your children the coach YOU wanted got Amy fired. Stop hiding, show your faces, you have made a mockery out of baseball in town and now you brought it to soccer. You all need help and not to be served by the board on your demands.

    1. I would love to see the list of names of the parents that made this happen and they should feel the public scrutiny of their shameful behavior. IUse to be good and fun for the kids, now it is dog eat dog. I hope the Maroons go down in a flaming pile of shit now with Jim Feeney standing on the bow like the Titanic.

      10
      1. Ask Maroons, they sent a survey targeting Amy and the group of parents went A-wall with it. They criticized her coaching skills when we know that wasn’t the real issue. The kids love Amy, however her views on Shedler didn’t line up to theirs, so they threatened Maroons to get her out.

Come out, come out wherever you are.

      2. Release “the list”

      3. Take a look at the board members, many of their significant others are to blame. We see your names, we know how this goes. Bullies, each and every one of you. You’ve turned this soccer association into a disgusting club, you should be ashamed.

  28. I can guarantee that you will never hear a member from any of the sports organizations ever admit that turf is toxic. They gaslight the parents and frankly these people are afraid to speak up to advocate for their children’s health even though they don’t want their kids playing on it. Why, retaliation and that their kid will be ostracized. That is pretty sad especially fr I m organizations who boast that they instill great values of sportsmanship in the children. Firing as a means to control the flow of money.

  29. Whether you’re for Amy or against her Why so many anonymous posts? why make a comment and hide behind it?

    1. Because th we re are bullies I n this town that could threaten everyone’s safety.

      10
      1. Starting with the council, mayor and the engineer. Bigios too

  30. You know who is also to blame here is Vagianos, weirz, mortimer and especially winograd. All enabling the bad behavior of the sports organizations, especially RBSA and Maroons soccer. This council is the worst and encourages bullying in every shape and form so these jokers think they can do and say whatever they please. This council has created division not inclusion. It’s right there in front of your faces.

    10
  31. What is the RBSA drama? Someone enlighten us.

    1. Scott Muller main driver and huge toxic turf advocate. RBSA uses most of the Fields most of the time, there turf equal extended plau. He publicly pronounce that the millions of pounds of toxic soil on the schedler property, which will start at a cost of 1.5 million, shoukd all be dumped on former mayor’s Knudson, whom he apparently hated, on her front lawn. On record, in public. Now here’s a shining example of sportsmanship, wouldn’t you say?

      1. Interesting. Thank you.

  32. Clay Fisher, team President and his cronies send a survey out to Maroon parents targeting Amy, parents spew hate because she doesn’t share their views and then the guy resigns?

    Cowards all over this.

    1. this is 100% the way they operate.

    2. Publish the survey! Sunshine is the best disinfectant.

  33. Take a look at the list, it’s all making more and more sense.

RBSA President Scott Muller says: “Dump contaminated soil from Schedler in Susan Knudsen’s front yard”- class act.

Most on this list have direct connections with Maroon’s soccer, most have been at village meetings fighting against Coach Amy about the dangers of turf fields. And the majority of these parents are “for” turf. Ironic. So, are these individuals blackmailing and threatening to withheld sponsorship because toxic fields are more important than their precious children’s health and Coach Amy was hindering their fight for turf fields.

    Connect the dots.

  34. Amy – take a coaching position in another town and beat Ridgewood every chance you get.?

    10
  35. It’s a terrible decision to get rid of Coach Amy. You’d have to really puff your chest out to believe that removing someone who genuinely cares about the children is the right move. Coach Amy isn’t just any coach—she’s someone who goes beyond teaching soccer skills. She prioritizes the health and well-being of every child, both physically and mentally.

If more people educated themselves, they’d understand how unhealthy turf fields can be for kids to play on. It’s not just about winning games; it’s about keeping our children safe and healthy while they learn and grow in the sport. As a parent, you want a coach who supports your child’s development on all levels—not just athletic performance but also their overall happiness and mental health.

Coach Amy embodied those values, and losing her is a loss for every child and parent involved. This decision sends the wrong message about what really matters in youth sports.

    1. Let’s take back our village! Why do we let this mayor and council, village manager and these ridiculously puffed up sports organizations that think they can do whatever they want, that we are going to tell them how things are going to go.

This is what we get when we don’t know who are what we are voting for.

This is a bad bunch and it is costing Ridgewood residents dearly.

      1. It is a bad bunch off parents, we should be getting rid of them and their kids if they are really demanding specialty, positions, teams and coaches.

    2. Thank you so much, I’m absolutely heartbroken, I loved these girls and I loved my job. The maroons were my family, and then they changed. It wasn’t like that anymore. There was a lot going on that was not OK which I took to the board and they did absolutely nothing with. What happened to me was wrong and when the time is right, I will deal with them. What they said is to all the girls if you say something, you get silenced. As a woman, I feel that this was also discrimination. We will see, a lot will come out in the next few weeks and months. But I’m gonna continue to say on the side that’s important and that’s protecting our kids and protecting the land we live on. There’s a lot more that will come out in time.. https://www.nj.com/bergen/2025/06/nj-soccer-coach-says-she-was-fired-after-opposing-artificial-turf-at-historic-site.html

      1. I’m obviously sad you’re going thru this, but happy the story is going viral. People need to know how disgusting certain elements of this town have become.

Kudos to NJ.com. Now this needs to go national…Fox News-are you listening?

        1. Will there be more articles ?

          1. Yes

      2. This is so sad, I’m so sorry you and your family are dealing with this Amy.

  36. This is not how you treat a United States veteran. Everyone involved in this should be ashamed of yourselves. Amy, thank you for your service to our country and community. It is their loss and it will come back to haunt them.

    10
  37. Everyone has seriously underestimated this woman, she will come back so much stronger, she will always stand up to the bullies, she’s not afraid, she was a Marine, for Gods sake, nothing will stop this woman from standing up for what is right.

    10
  38. Let’s call it what it is getting rid of Coach Amy was a disgrace. You didn’t just remove a coach you silenced a voice that actually stood up for our kids when so few do. She wasn’t just about winning games; she was about raising strong, confident, healthy children. The kind of coach who shows up early, stays late, and checks in on a child even when no one’s watching.

Coach Amy cared. Really cared. About their mental health, their physical safety, their confidence. She spoke up about concerns most people are too afraid to touch like the real dangers of turf and instead of being applauded, she was punished. For doing the right thing.

As a parent, it’s gut-wrenching. You dream of someone like her in your child’s corner. Someone who isn’t just focused on scores but on hearts and minds. You don’t get many like her, and now she’s gone because people would rather puff their chests and claim victory than stop and ask what’s truly best for the kids?

The message that was just sent? Loud and clear. Speak up, and you’ll be silenced. Care too much, and you’ll be replaced.

    Heartbreaking. Disappointing. Shameful.

    16
    1. Point on, this is so very sad.

  39. They suffer from FDS (Field Derangement Syndrome). Artificial turf is their sole focus at all personal and professional costs.

    11
  40. God bless Amy and the USA!!!

    10
  41. Amy served to protect our freedom of speech. Those involved in this did not protect hers.

  42. As a father of a child on MS Madrid I am appalled and disappointed in the board and parents who were requesting special attention, positions and teams. The snarky commentary at games leads me to believe I know exactly which parents did this. Shame, shame, shame.

Shame on MSC catering to these vile parents. Coach Amy has been a wonderful driving force in excelling my child’s skills. She will be sorely missed.

    10
    1. the only way MSC will ever change is if the PARENTS speak up and take their kids and $$ to another club.

    2. Caught!

  43. Not supporting a veteran is as un-American as it gets. The MSC has brought shame upon their organization. Parents should find another program for their kids.

  44. MSC has a long history of firing well-qualified, excellent coaches. . . look no further than the high school coach. It’s gross daddy-ball.

  45. I’ve never been more embarrassed to be part of a team than now. How utterly pathetic are you all to project such hatred because your precious substandard player didn’t get on the A team with the coach you threatened. Fools, get out of here, Ridgewood does not need you or want your inferior players. Maroon’s do better, get rid of these sub-par parents and players.

  46. Maroon’s Soccer Club ****updated board members. Makes you go, oh, ah ha! I get it now.

The pieces of the puzzle are all fitting together now.

The Board = The parents of the Maroon kids, therefore this is how you get what you want fast, I see it. “If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck”.

    We see how it is.
