Ridgewood NJ, during their Monday, April 3rd Public Work Session, the Ridgewood Village Council is scheduled to discuss the Schedler property’s historic designation status with Mr. Peter Primavera, a historic preservation consultant based in Central NJ.

Catch up on the controversy surrounding the Village Council’s intent to hire Mr. Primavera by reading these past articles from The Ridgewood Blog:

Additionally, documents we obtained recently from the Middlesex County, NJ Prosecutor’s Office reveal that Mr. Primavera entered into a Pre Trial Intervention Program (PTI) related to a 1987 incident in which he admitted to lying under oath about his educational background.

As a first-time offender in New Jersey, Mr. Primavera was eligible for this special program that helped him wipe his slate clean with no jail time and no related criminal record. PTI offers eligible defendants an opportunity to take several rehabilitative steps (e.g., counseling or treatment) in return for dismissing the charges against them.

Needless to say, although the Village Council seems to be very aware of Mr. Primavera’s brushes with the law, they appear obsessed with engaging his services. Supposedly, Primavera told two (2) members of the Council that he knows how to get around restrictions likely to be placed by NJ’s State Office of Historic Preservation on a Council plan to develop Schedler into a sports complex for youths.

Several members of The Ridgewood Blog’s staff will attend Monday’s meeting and let you all know what was said.

  1. Thus, Deputy Mayor Pamela Perron was disingenuous when publicly stating that she was unable to find any record of criminal charges having been brought against Mr. Primavera in connection with the 1987 incident. The charges had been expunged in connection with his completion of the PTI Program. Semantics strikes again.

    1. I wonder if the deputy mayor agrees now that if someone who participated in a PTI program, they can legitimately be called a shyster.

  2. She’s a skunk.

  3. Great news let’s move forward we all understand

  4. Oh. My. God. These people are unreal

  6. This is beyond concerning, and in my view, it has to stop. How can tax dollars be spent on a plan to hire someone who has not only a shady past but had his record expunged for good behavior! This is outrageous. The Village Council mentioned that they had no knowledge of the past shadiness of Mr. Primavera’s record as they clearly had not performed due diligence on vetting him. However, given the fact, that these things are true and this person has lied under oath, is something this Council now needs to own if they move forward. He is supposedly known for working to overturn historical significance and wrangle ways to find loopholes. Clearly the agenda is more than evident.

  7. Council, this must stop. Please do not hire this criminal.

    Unacceptable, embarrassing, absurd.

If you do this, you will never live it down. It will be raised and emphasized forever as an example of your poor judgment and fiscal irresponsibility.

We assume that none of you four intend to run for any office ever again, including reelection to the council. This would not look good.

Be grownups, accept that this is simply not going to work out, and tell the guy to return to his cell.

  8. The reason they are hiring this guy is plain and simple. Paul and Pam have the most stubborn, ego- driven personalities, and they are not about to let anybody tell them that they picked the wrong guy. So they’re going to hire a damn criminal just to prove that they are right. This is just disgusting.

  9. Pam looks like she is sucking on a bitter pill at all times. She is such an angry person. She is going to hire a criminal just to prove some ridiculous point.

  10. A sports complex “for youths”–and baseball-playing adults with money changing hands.

The youths merely show up when dragged to council meetings by their rabid parents and told what to say.

Council, you are wrong to press the reversal of a compromise that was very long in coming. It’s not too late. Fess up and we will respect you more (instead of resenting and hating you).

  11. Love the headline! Kinda like “Trump Indicted.” Warms my heart.

    1. Free campaign adds…47th president

  12. Too bad it costs so much time and money to sue. This would be ripe for it–before they actually wreck the place rather than after.

  13. Forget about “past behavior”. HE DOESN’T HAVE LEGITIMATE CREDENTIALS!!!!!!!!

I can watch a few YouTube videos on heart surgery and take some weekend classes. Will you hire me to perform surgery? I would hope not!!!

  14. I’m going to make myself some more popcorn. This is great.

  15. I think that just like of the rest of the country this town is going to sh!t soon. I say let it happen asap. The quicker we reach the bottom of the barrel the better it is. Those who brought these shameless clowns into power need to feel the effect of their voting. A famous scammer once wisely said “elections have consequences”. Enjoy.

  16. I’m cool with it….
    I’m RICH and STUPID

  17. Excuse me, but what’s the plan if this guy succeeds in getting the historical status pulled, and then the State asks for their $2.5 million in historical preservation grants back? Are the baseball and soccer associations able to pay that?

  18. That’s why I’m making more popcorn, shits, going to hit the fan

  19. Pee Wee’s daughter was a softball pitcher many years ago. He was friends with that little curmudgeon that coached the Travel teams that Pee Wee’s daughter played on.

My point is Pee Wee is an unabashed RBSA fan.

  20. Wouldn’t The Record like to cover this story. They love to report on bad news in Ridgewood.
