Ridgewood NJ, the reality about the real 21st century energy revolution Is that it’s mostly shale oil and gas, not so called “Green Energy”. While the politicians and the TV talking heads keep “charging at windmills” telling you wind and solar are the energy sources of the future.

According  to Mark Mills of the Manhattan Institute, that isn’t even close to the truth. The surge in energy so far this century has been all from the shale revolution thanks to fracking and horizontal drilling technologies.

Hydraulic fracturing, or “fracking” as it is more commonly known, is just one small method of the broader process of unconventional development of oil and natural gas. Fracking is a proven drilling technology used for extracting oil, natural gas, geothermal energy, or water from deep underground. Fracking has been safely used in the United States since 1947. More than 1.7 million U.S. wells have been completed using the fracking process, producing more than seven billion barrels of oil and 600 trillion cubic feet of natural gas.

Here are the numbers: The shale expansion added 800% more energy to the U.S. than did the (subsidized) growth of solar and wind combined.

  1. Wind and solar will never replace petroleum, politicians are just playing with themselves.

  2. You make a good point, but I think a fairer assessment would also point out the growth in global solar and wind and should also take into consideration other factors like potential impact on climate. It seems like the long term solution is a combo of oil, nuclear, solar and wind.

  3. Unfortunately govs murphy and newsom and pres potatohead are not moderate in their thinking.
