New Milford NJ, six individuals, including five teenagers and a 20-year-old man, have been charged in connection with a violent stabbing near a New Milford High School that left the victim seriously injured, Bergen County prosecutors announced.
March 17: A Large Fight Turns Violent
On March 17, around 3:15 p.m., New Milford police responded to reports of a large fight near New Milford High School . When officers arrived, they discovered a victim who had been stabbed multiple times, while the suspects had fled the scene. Superintendent Peter Galasso said the altercation happened in the school parking lot shortly after dismissal.
The victim was rushed to a local hospital for treatment of severe injuries.
Who Was Charged?
According to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, the following individuals were charged in connection with the attack, Four suspects face attempted murder charges:
Arrested & Charged
🔹 Malachi J. Goodwin, 18, of Teaneck – First-degree attempted murder, second-degree aggravated assault, third-degree hindering apprehension, and fourth-degree tampering with evidence. (Located fleeing; later released.)
🔹 Andrew Cruz, 18, of New Milford – Second-degree aggravated assault and third-degree hindering apprehension. (Arrested and held at Bergen County Jail.)
🔹 Kevin K. Hibbert, 19, of Teaneck – First-degree attempted murder, aggravated assault, weapons possession charges, and eluding. (Arrested with SWAT assistance, held at Bergen County Jail.)
🔹 Allan G. Martin, 18, of Teaneck – First-degree attempted murder, aggravated assault, and eluding. (Arrested in Paramus; released pending court action.)
🔹 Eric T. Williams, 20, of Teaneck – First-degree attempted murder, aggravated assault, weapons possession charges, and eluding. (Arrested with SWAT assistance, held at Bergen County Jail.)
🔹 17-year-old male (Name Withheld, Bergen County) – Juvenile delinquency charges, including second-degree aggravated assault and third-degree simple assault. (Taken into protective custody and released to a guardian.)
SWAT Team Assists in Arrests
On March 21, the Bergen County Regional SWAT Team assisted detectives in tracking down and arresting Hibbert and Williams, who were both taken into custody and transported to Bergen County Jail.
What’s Next?
With multiple first-degree attempted murder charges, the suspects face severe legal consequences. Some have already been released pending court action, while others remain in custody.
The investigation is ongoing, and prosecutors have not ruled out additional charges.

I wrote last week that this town was going south…
These young men’s lives will be forever changed. What got in to them to do this? Why were so many of them involved? Did they think they could get away with it? The “followers” who tagged along for this fight are charged just the same as the kid who did the stabbing! I pray for them and their parents! Six families and the poor victim and his family will never be the same. How is the victim doing now?
