Oakland NJ, according to a petition launched by the Borough of Oakland , Oakland Materials LLC has requested the Bergen County Utilities Authority to modify the Bergen County District Solid Waste Management Plan to incorporate its proposed Class B recycling facility located at 342 W. Oakland Avenue.
The borough is using the petition to urge residents to support its initiatives against the proposed Class B recycling facility on West Oakland Avenue, described as “a short distance from homes, Potash Lake, and the Ramapo River.”
If granted approval, the facility could handle and process up to 900 tons of concrete, brick, asphalt, and topsoil daily.
Residents are encouraged to endorse a petition opposing “Oakland Materials, LLC’s application to the BCUA due to potential quality-of-life impacts such as noise, dust, odors, and truck traffic, along with concerns about potential pollution, including groundwater contamination of a sole-source aquifer that supplies drinking water to Oakland residents.”
