Cliffside Park NJ, three men from New York have been arrested and charged with impersonating police officers to carry out a home invasion in Cliffside Park last month, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.
Diogenes A. Rosario, 49, Leonel Perez, 38, and Misael Diaz, 38, face serious charges including kidnapping, robbery, burglary, theft, endangering the welfare of a child, and impersonating law enforcement. On October 12, around 1:50 a.m., the suspects reportedly forced their way into a multi-family home on Crescent Lane. They wore fake police-style badges and presented themselves as law enforcement officers to gain control of the situation.
Once inside, the men allegedly restrained three victims, two of whom were under the age of 14, while three other children slept in another room. The suspects proceeded to ransack the home, stealing valuables before fleeing the scene.
The breakthrough in the case came when detectives tracked a stolen vehicle used by the suspects to travel to and from the area. Following an intensive investigation, authorities made arrests in multiple locations:
- Diogenes Rosario was apprehended on October 30 at a residence in Ridgefield by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Squad and the Bergen County Regional SWAT Team. He is currently being held in Bergen County Jail awaiting a court appearance.
- Leonel Perez was arrested the same day in New York City by the Special Investigations Squad and NYPD officers from the 33rd Precinct. He is held at Rikers Island, awaiting extradition to Bergen County.
- Misael Diaz was taken into custody on November 1 in Yonkers by the FBI, Special Investigations Squad, and Yonkers Police Department. He awaits extradition at Westchester County Jail.
The arrests highlight the coordinated efforts of multiple agencies, including the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, NYPD, FBI, and local law enforcement, to bring these suspects to justice and safeguard the community from similar threats. The trio now faces significant legal consequences for their alleged actions, which endangered residents and exploited the guise of authority to commit a serious crime.

Keep the borders open Kamala!
If you have any doubt about individuals claiming to be law enforcement, you should call your local PD to verify their status before opening a door. Shields, words, and jackets are NOT identification, they must display agency issued identification.
If they are upset that you are calling for independent ID, they probably are not LE.
sounds like a trio of landscapers
I am very sure one of them is innocent! When he proves he is innocent we will sue the city.
