Hackensack NJ, Three teenagers from New York City have been arrested in connection with an alleged armed carjacking that occurred in Hackensack in April 2024, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office (BCPO).
The incident, which involved the theft of a vehicle, jewelry, a wallet, and a phone, took place near a South River Street convenience store in the early morning hours of April 22, 2024.
Carjacking Incident Details
At approximately 4:26 a.m., Hackensack Police responded to a report of a carjacking. The victim was allegedly ambushed by three masked suspects, who brandished a weapon and forcibly took their belongings and car.
The suspects then fled the scene in the stolen vehicle and a Mercedes-Benz, which authorities later determined had been reported stolen in New York City just hours earlier.
Investigation and Arrests
Working jointly with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, Hackensack Police tracked down the suspects through surveillance and vehicle tracking data. All three individuals, who were juveniles at the time of the incident, were identified as New York City residents.
They were charged in March 2025 and arrested on Wednesday. The suspects now face serious charges, including:

Two of the suspects are now 18 years old; the third is 17.
Awaiting Extradition to Bergen County
The teens are currently being held in New York State Police custody and are awaiting extradition to Bergen County, where they will face prosecution.

Nice work police officers for catching these scum kids. Charge them as adults and send them to prison for a 15-year stretch. Or, do as they do in the Middle East when someone is found guilty of theft: cut off their right hands.
