Ridgewood NJ, a trail of crash debris stretching more than a mile led Ridgewood Police officers straight to the doorstep of a driver allegedly involved in a hit-and-run accident on Friday afternoon, April 18.
Hit-and-Run on Jackson Terrace: Two Vehicles Damaged
The incident occurred on Jackson Terrace, located on the far west side of Ridgewood. A white Acura sedan was struck and sustained heavy front-end damage. The vehicle was towed from the scene shortly after police arrived.
Officers Track Down Suspect Vehicle on Ridgewood’s East Side
Thanks to a visible debris trail, Ridgewood PD patrol officers were able to track down the suspected fleeing vehicle — a black Jeep Grand Cherokee — which was located on the opposite end of town. The SUV showed significant front-end damage, including a missing front left tire.
The vehicle was found parked at what is believed to be the suspect’s residence. Officers made contact with the driver and conducted a field sobriety test at the scene.
Investigation Ongoing
As of now, Ridgewood Police have not released information regarding any charges or traffic summonses related to the hit-and-run. The investigation is ongoing.
“Our officers did an excellent job tracking the suspect vehicle quickly and safely,” a spokesperson for Ridgewood PD said.

The quality of those cars is not as good these days and they all tend to shed parts for a mile or so until they stabilize……………..
