Washington DC, the Trump administration announced Tuesday that it has successfully negotiated the release of Marc Fogel, an American schoolteacher detained in Russia on drug charges since 2021.

Marc Fogel Returns Home After High-Stakes Negotiation

According to National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, special envoy Steve Witkoff departed Russian airspace with Fogel after finalizing the agreement. However, details of who the U.S. or its allies may have released in exchange remain undisclosed.

Waltz described the move as a “show of good faith from the Russians” and a step toward diplomatic progress in ending the war in Ukraine.

Trump and Putin Speak for the First Time in Two Years

In a major diplomatic shift, President Donald Trump spoke directly with Russian President Vladimir Putin, marking the first conversation between the two leaders since early 2022. Both reportedly agreed to future in-person visits, a sign that negotiations to end the war in Ukraine may be underway.

The call follows remarks from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who stated that Ukraine’s goal of reclaiming Crimea and other lost territories is unrealistic. Hegseth also called for Ukraine to end its NATO bid, signaling a possible change in U.S. foreign policy toward the conflict.

Trump reportedly followed up with a call to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, though details of their conversation remain unclear.

Trump Administration’s Cabinet Confirmations Continue

Meanwhile, in Washington, the Senate confirmed former House Rep. Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence in a 52-48 vote. Additionally, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Trump’s nominee for Health Secretary, is advancing to a final floor vote expected later today.

    1. Check this out. Being a hater doesn’t necessary make someone wrong, just as being a fragile snowflake doesn’t make someone virtuous.
