Upper Saddle River NJ,  the Upper Saddle River grade school district, part of the Northern Highlands Regional School District, is prioritizing school security by introducing an armed guard.

Philip Tangel, a Class III special law enforcement officer, was recently sworn in by Mayor Arman Fardanesh.

A Class III special law enforcement officer is a type of officer designated under New Jersey law. These officers are retired law enforcement officers who are hired by educational institutions, such as schools or colleges, to provide security and law enforcement services on school grounds. They have limited law enforcement authority, typically restricted to the jurisdiction of the institution that hires them. Class III officers undergo training and certification, but they are not full-time, active-duty police officers. Their role is to enhance security and safety within the educational environment they serve.

According to Schools Superintendent Brad Siegel, the decision to bring in Officer Tangel was made due to the district’s recognition of the importance of security. With one retired police officer already on staff, Officer Tangel becomes the second officer for the Upper Saddle River School district. The district is covering the cost of this additional security measure.

This move aligns with a trend of increased armed security measures in schools across various districts. In January, the Ramapo Indian Hills Regional High School district approved a $115,200 package for a Class III special law enforcement officer in its 2024-2025 budget, following the example set by its three-grade school districts.

The Upper Saddle River district, which serves 1,115 students, houses its three grade schools in close proximity to each other, located just 400 feet north of the borough police station on West Saddle River Road. These schools include the K-2 Robert Reynolds building, the adjacent grade 3-5 Edith Bogert building, and the grade 6-8 Emil Cavallini Middle School, situated across the street.

  1. Qualified teachers should be allowed to conceal carry.
That way the mass shooters (usually trannies) won’t know where the resistance will be,.
The FAA allowed qualified pilots to conceal carry after 9-11. Guess how many hijackings occurred of US airliners after that… Answer… ZERO

    1. 1) More guns in schools will almost certainly lead to more deaths.
      2) Your transphobia is apparent, but not supported by any facts or evidence.
      3) The multivariable changes that happened after 9/11 have led to the decrease in terror attacks. To suggest that it is because pilots are allowed to carry shows a complete lack of understanding, or willful disregard for the facts.
      4) In the case of an attack, the armed pilots would be locked in the cockpit, so I am not sure what purpose their guns would serve.

      1. No, terror attacks have decreased due to this rock. Perhaps you’d like to buy it.

        1. It’s a versatile device for sure. It also worked for Covid. The upshot (pun intended) is that you could remove the rock from your body when not in use and put it to practical use if desired.

    2. I sincerely doubt your typical young, purple-haired progressive teacher that has a pride flag in her class room is going to be the least interesting in packing heat.

Mass shooters are not usually transexuals. However, the biggest stressor identified by the FBI in their Study of Pre-Attack Behaviors of Active Shooters 2000-2013 (this makes excellent bedtime reading for kids) was “mental health.” You could argue that transexual individuals comprise a subset of individuals experiencing some level of psychosis, yes.

And notwithstanding pilots being permitted to carry, airlines have employed armed and covert sky marshals since the 1960s. Doesn’t make a difference when the terrorists are invited.

  2. Idiotic idea. Just ban all private gun ownership like most civilized countries. We’re the only ones with this solvable problem.

      1. It’s such a simple concept, and yet so elusive to so many. They also ignore the fact that the loudest voices for grabbing the guns also have private security retinues armed to the teeth.

  3. USR can do this because they have the money.

They also pay stipends for coaches for their Travel basketball teams.

    1. Pay stipend for coaches, pay tutors, have nannies pay others instead of spending time with your kids by volunteering to coach. Too busy on weekends driving their impractical sports cars around.

  4. Listen, everyone, this is security for our kids. Faster response times, everyone should feel a bit safer, knowing that you have a professional trained police/security/school officer blame me. This is a great thing. Defense defense is a must.

  5. The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun,,., is a good guy with a gun
How’s the strictest gun laws in Chicago working out?
And yes the last few mass shooters were trannies. Sorry to burst your bubble

    1. Yes, first it was a prison for the mind, and now it’s becoming an actual prison.
