the staff of the Ridgewood blog
Upper Saddle River NJ, Sarah Renee Bakal of Upper Saddle River has become Bergen County’s first female Eagle Scout during ceremonies at Temple Israel in Ridgewood on Sunday.
She is among six girls in the first class of female Eagles from the Northern New Jersey Council serving Bergen, Essex, Hudson and Passaic counties. Bakal is also the first to earn the rank among 11 girls who formed Troop 933 in March 2019, soon after Scouts BSA, formerly the Boy Scouts, began admitting girls. She had already earned her Gold Award — the highest rank in Girl Scouting in 2018.
