the staff of the Ridgewood blog
Ridgewood NJ, a couple of weeks ago Councilman Mortimer stated that “Ridgewood is about sports” . Let’s forget about music, the hobbyists, dance, performances, social activities, careers, fine dining, casual dining, meeting a friend at the tea shop, shopping, and on and on and on. Ridgewood is not sports. Ridgewood is many things. Sports is one of them.
Regularly he states that he has “read all the studies” about the health and environmental risks of artificial turf. OK, maybe he has read them, but he clearly has not understood them because he concludes loudly and clearly that artificial turf presents zero risk to children and the environment. Odd, since he is a “professor” or part-time lecturer or instructor or something like that.

At the February 10 meeting he stated that the “majority of Ridgewood families have children in sports.” Someone in the audience then asked him for the source of his statement, since the census says that only 28% of residents are under 18 years. We at The blog checked, and indeed 28.1% is correct, according to the 2024 US Census. Mr. Professor – how is 28.1% a majority?
First we had Ms. Winograd with her incessant “fun facts.” Now we have Mr. Mortimer with the “fake facts.”

You just couldn’t make shit like this up no matter how hard you try!
He is a brilliant, studious, well-informed Councilman and the VOR is lucky to have him.
He will make a fine Mayor one day.
Have another glass of the Kool-Aid.
Don’t you get it?
This is just a stepping stone gig for Frank.
WIth profound intellect, awe-inspiring command of the issues, and his exciting and innovative new “eco-flex” platform, next stop for the Bee-Train is Trenton!
That’s Frank himself writing. Nobody thinks he’s an outstanding councilman and nobody thinks he would make a good mayor.
He is a knucklehead at best
Yeah right, all the Bee Man is capable of is shaking his head in unison when PauLIE pulls the strings. There is not an original thought going in that head of his. We dont need council people who can think or act indepedently. Who do you think paid for all of those campaign mailers so he could stack the dais. The puppetmaster.
Is this a joke or is this you Frank?
It’s an obvious joke, and it wasn’t even me this time. Less funny is the majority of readers here who lap this stuff up unreflectingly.
AL II:58
They make up facts to support their personal agendas.
He thinks just because he’s sitting up on the dais, everyone will believe what he says is true. Wrong!
The only Bees frank is currently a master of is BS.
This is funny and true
he can lie because he knows the dumb dumbs will vote for him anyway
How can you op u call yourself N environmentalist and be pro turf. It makes no sense.
He is so patronizing and condescending
He is always wrong. And we can see that he has a trigger temper.
You are way over your head professor. Yeah right professor. Whatever
another clown following all the directives of our mayor
Ridgewood voters do what they are told
Ridgewood voters voted for him. You get the government you deserve.
This will be cited in the future as an example of the Dunning Kruger effect……
Frank said that the majority of families, not the majority of residents participate in sports. Therefore, his statement that the majority of families have children that participate in sports can be theoretically correct even if only 28% of residents are under the age of 18. Further, it’s clear what he meant: that the majority of families with school aged children participate in sports. I
The problem is that he’s not speaking ‘theoretically’. He’s speaking as if his comments are factual! We expect our elected officials (esp. if they’re supposed to be a professor) to speak about what “is”, not what “can be correct”
This is not so. If 28% of the population of Ridgewood is under the age of 18 and you figure the two or three kids probably are in each family than the percentage of families with kids under 18 goes even lower.
Actually, assuming an average of 2 kids per family, which is likely low, that would bring percentage of families with children to 56%. Not to mention the fact that the word “family” clearly implies a family unit that includes children, not couples without children. Even if you include married couples without children, clearly single residents are not families, so the percentage would increase. Therefore, his statement is within the realm of reason, depending on how you look at the language used.
The problem with this post from the RW blog is that the author is accusing Frank of essentially stating that the majority of “residents” play youth sports by citing the percentage of youth residents.
The bottom line is that Frank is full of shit.
Shyte serves a useful purpose.
You must have had a math teacher of the caliber of Prof Mortimer
He’s beginning to look really foolish and might have a short fuse. It is obvious that he read any documents related to turf or he skimmed, took what was relevant to support his messaging which is pro sports only, with nothing to do with Ridgewood’s environmental future. Epic fail, professor. You get a D minus on this assignment.
I love it, it’s amazing. The politics that goes on in the village. It just keeps on getting more and more nuttier . This one light in town told me where do they find these people?
Frank Mortimer, Ridgewood’s Bee guy is a real stinger with his routine now of trying to cleverly pick out information to make it look like he has his act together. People can see right through this. He tries to get his carefully plan his points but fumbles the ball each and every time. He is banking on the fact that people are not really paying attention to his antics and that he can get away with it because people voted for him and he is in with the grand Pooba. Sorry but you aren’t fooling anyone Frank.
The only reason people voted for him was he was part of the trio. If he would have run independently, he would have had his ass whooped and Ms. Kwak would be in his seat. She would have been great for Ridgewood. Mortimer’s entire campaign was bought and paid for by Vagianos who probably told people to vote for his friend, Frank, because this way it makes the real King of Con more powerful. Unfortunately he has a seat on probably the worst council Ridgewood has seen in a long time. It is going to be a long and painful period for our village until we can usher these jokers out.
Worst council in a long time?
Perhaps the worst council in the history of the Village.
Embarrassing!
This bumbling bozo fits in perfectly.
And the VM. Yuck
Kwak was a self promoter. Clear as day. Tiger Mom.
And Mortimer isn’t self promoting? Go buy some all natural sugar water now, will you. Goes great with the Kool aid.
Even if each kid under the age of 18 lived as the only child in a house, that would still only be 28 percent of the households. If there were two kids of these 28% in each family that would bring it down to 14% of the households. when he said that most families have kids in sports he’s absolutely wrong. But he said it with great pomposity as if nobody would dare to question him. Guess what Frank the village of Ridgewood is filled with smart people. And we all see that you are not one of them.
He probably sits there scheming. Marketing is a smoke show to get you to buy his BS
