VILLAGE SANITATION COLLECTION IN SNOW OR ICY WEATHER

As a reminder on days when snow or ice is forecast, residents will be required to bring their garbage cans to the curb for collection. VOR staff will only pick up garbage and recycling at the curb in snow or ice conditions. Ice condition is when ice is present in driveways and sidewalks. Due to numerous slip and falls today by Sanitation staff (some requiring Hospital visits) if your driveway was not clear your garbage has not been collected and should be placed at the curb.

  1. Lucky this week and perhaps, a couple more.

    Coming out of hibernation….. soon .. !

  2. So if the driveway is clear, the cans get picked up in the rear yard.

  3. #2 Cans don’t get rear yard pick up… only garbage as usual.

  4. Only garbage is rear yard pick up.

  5. Fact Maker & Fact Checker:

#2 Cans don’t get rear yard pick up… only garbage as usual.

I mean the GARBAGE cans=regular refuse. Rearyard. And even though its not required, many of my neighbors put their cans at the curb for the garbagemen. They were ‘thanked’ by having the cans tossed to one side, upside down, lids on the other side of the driveway.
Talk about lazy and inconsiderate employees.

  6. as long as it’s safe .

  7. Why don’t they just tell us the days that they are not coming. “When snow or ice are forecast” could be most days in the winter..

Are they coming tomorrow or not? Just tell us.

Maybe update the website with some current info.

  8. I agree #7.
So I called…and was told ‘its rearyard pickup as long as there is a clear path’.
So if no snow or ice on the driveway why bother to bring it to the street.
The town looks like Paterson after the crews tossed the cans all over the west side today. they are paid well for rear yard pickup . if they don’t like it they can quit and go work for waste management for 50% pay cut and no benefits like the village generously gives them.

  9. Poor baby, had to walk a few extra steps to get your can and all this with the taxes you pay. God forbid something real bad happen in the USA what are you going to do with no one to wipe your ass with your tax bill.

  10. I’m so confused that I gave up. My garbage is becoming a frozen archaeological dig. I haven’t done recycling in months–it’s in the basement waiting for the Big Thaw.

  11. So how many residents slipped and fell dragging their trash out to the curb? Why has it suddenly become so dangerous for sanitation workers to pick up trash? Doesn’t it snow here every winter? At least there are still leaves and Christmas trees to stack the garbage bags on…

  12. #11 maybe the should have clean up the snow and ice better.

  13. Maybe the village should enforce there own rules on residents who do not clean there properties.

  14. They came to my backyard today. Most of my neighbors put theirs at the curb

  15. Why are people bitching and moaning you already bring recycling and bulk waste to the curb.

Because we don’t live in Waldwick or Midland Park.
One of the few niceties we have left, not having to stare at garbage cans strewn all over, or having a neighbor with a backhoe.

  17. Backhoes show an investment in home and yard I love it when my neighbors improve their property.

I also applaud a neighbor improving their yard.
You missed the point of the post.
Living next door to a neighbor who runs an excavation or trucking business from their home. Its prohibited here.
