Ridgewood NJ, we find ourselves in an era where manipulated images have become commonplace. Even prominent figures are sharing modified photographs online, contributing to a landscape where discerning truth from fiction can be challenging. Unfortunately, the use of edited images is not limited to social media posts; it also extends to attempts to misinform the Ridgewood Public.

Fact-checkers have scrutinized an image shared by the Ridgewood Arts Foundation (RAF) on Facebook, depicting the Ridgewood Gold Star Families Monument. Their analysis reveals that the image has been edited in a manner that is deceptive and misleading. This propaganda exploits circumstances and exaggerates details, adding unnecessary strain to Veterans and their families.

Gold Star families are those who have lost a loved one in military service to their country. The term originated during World War I, when families would display a service flag with a blue star for each family member serving in the armed forces. If a service member died in the line of duty, the blue star would be replaced with a gold star, indicating their ultimate sacrifice. Today, Gold Star families are recognized and honored for their sacrifice, and various organizations provide support and assistance to them.

The truth of the matter is that there is no Ridgewood Gold Star Families Monument currently present at Van Neste Park. Despite efforts by Gold Star Families and the American Legion Post 53, the project remains stalled, mired in a contentious debate that has forced these individuals to navigate unnecessary hurdles and financial burdens. The decision to utilize a manipulated image of a shelved project as a form of propaganda only serves to compound the frustrations and disappointments experienced by those involved.

  1. shows how these dopes on Facebook , know nothing about the town

  2. SHAME on this council

  3. “While at the park, stop in for a gyro and a cup of coffee” – Mayor Pau (fake add)

  4. You can thank Vagianos once again for the major F*ck up. As per usual, this donkey’s ass has to screw everything up, in my opinion. He should go back to the business of making his restaurant tick instead of trying to over engineer everything. Remember, people, he is the one that is making Schedler a travesty on so many levels. Kids could have already been playing there, but no, that was not enough for him. He is running this village to the ground and making the village pay for things for the central business district because he benefits. Just refer to an early article about how he treated the vets and Gold Star families. It is a disgrace! https://patch.com/new-jersey/ridgewood/frustrations-aired-over-approval-gold-star-memorial-ridgewood

  5. Posted Jan. 25 to promote Tess Giuliani (Mayor Paul Vagianos appointee). The post is a disgrace and dishonor.

“Tess was approached by the Ridgewood mayor and deputy mayor…”

Please watch this piece of public meeting chastising the Legion

    1. Smells like nepotism to me.

  7. The Gold Star Family Service was also shafted in Sept.

UPDATE: This event is cancelled due to the inclement weather.

The Gold Star Family Service, hosted by American Legion Post 53, is still scheduled for tomorrow night at Memorial Park in Van Neste Square. A decision will be made to proceed dependent on weather by 5 pm tomorrow night. Come recognize our fallen heros and the families they left behind. https://www.facebook.com/share/Gz5mjbYS5DXVP5To/?mibextid=WC7FNe

    Was rescheduled to…
I understand that the Gold Star Family Day is a national event and is designated to be observed on the last Sunday in September. However, holding the event at 7:00 pm on Yom Kippur (Jewish holidays start at sundown the night before and Yom Kippur happens to start that evening) is disrespectful to the Gold Star Jewish families and their friends who want to honor them. The ceremonies should have been scheduled for the afternoon so as not to conflict with the most solemn day of the Jewish year. FYI sunset tomorrow is at 6:51pm.

  8. What qualified this person to architect and design a Veteran memorial-monument? All searches lead to interior decorating and mostly bathrooms/kitchens to boot.

    1. Just Paul !!!!

    2. Tess Guiliani is part of the Historic preservation commission where she decides on decorating colors and sign shapes for new businesses in the CBD. There is nothing historic about this group now that they replaced the village historian with a village emloyee. This person should have not been involved or benefitted financially from this project. I think the price for the memorial went up substantially after she got involved. They should all be ashamed of themselves.

  9. “unnecessary hurdles and financial burdens” — begging the question much? We don’t need to take up more public space with yet another maudlin memorial to war. No one is stopping you from valorizing these supposed sacrifices in the privacy of your own homes.

  10. Once again I say. Vag makes my skin crawl. And btw, I would never patronize his “restaurant”. He makes Aronson look good. shame on him

    1. I agree he sucks but no one could make aronsohn look good. I mean come on…

  11. Its apparently been changed to a statue of Paul

  12. Wasn’t he also talking about making a donation. Did he actually do it or just talk about it so that it would make him look good. Inquiring minds want to know. Fess up, Paul. Did you donate or not?
