Ridgewood NJ, Village Councilmember Siobhan Winograd got her knickers in a twist this past week when an issue involving the joint Ridgewood Public Schools/Village of Ridgewood Fields Committee was discussed during the Monday, April 7 public Board of Education meeting without prior notification to her. The issue concerned lack of Internet service at the Village owned Schedler House, the proposed location of a Fields Committee meeting scheduled for Tuesday, May 6. The absence of Internet service would prevent live streaming and remote meeting participation. “Just write me and I will answer for the statements I made.” Said Ms. Winograd after she expressed her surprise that there was a “general discussion” about the matter during a Ridgewood Board of Education Meeting.
Frankly, writing to Ms. Winograd every time she makes a puzzling statement would be a full-time, non-paying job that no one is interested in. Additionally, the Fields Committee by charter is a JOINT RPS/VOR committee. The word joint by definition indicates a shared responsibility; i.e., no single person and/or group is in charge. Why then was the Councilperson so miffed about a topic involving the Committee being discussed publicly by one of its partners?
Get a grip Ms. Councilperson, please. It’s not all about you (thank goodness).
