Ridgewood NJ, The rash of protests in Ridgewood have left a lot of residents scratching their heads trying to figure out where have we all gone wrong. A reader summed it up after every protests residents are asking themselves”Yes we paid $115 million in a school budget and this is what we get?”
Members of the “Ridgewood for Black Liberation” group is now attempting to recruit teens to their cause . A reader stated ,”These “teens” as they call themselves with their meeting “for teens, run by teens” invitation first of all, aren’t teens, and they are not looking for the betterment of society but rather, how many institutions can they attack and destroy. Their crowd of “know it all young adults” who consider themselves teens so they can hope to not be responsible for their actions. They hope to be getting more bleeding hearts who say “How could those big mean cops pick on a Latino teenager? They are obviously racists.” “or pick on an innocent teen (?) girl” who “just happened” to come with own photographer, recorder, and lawyer on July 4th? These brats assume they have the right to destroy society so they can have fun and get people to support them. Parents, please talk logic to your kids and hopefully get them to not participate in these mobs. Someone is going to get hurt.”
Another reader said,” I still chuckle at white kids from Ridgewood with a sign that says “Pay Reparations”. With so many opportunities to volunteer to help people that need help right now, this is the best they can do?”

You can disagree with their position but at least they are not sitting home on their butts. They are trying to peacefully accomplish something they believe in. Don’t let one poorly worded sign affect your judgement – to stand on the other side of this issue will put you squarely in the bucket with the Tories, the slaveownwers, the brownshirts and fascists, the McCarthyites and the anti-civil rights south in American history.
