Ridgewood emergency officials have increased their preparation efforts in anticipation of a potential three-headed super storm that has been predicted to hit the area early next week.

Bergen County could see extreme weather conditions, including three to six inches of rain and winds reaching speeds up to 70 miles per hour, should Hurricane Sandy collide with a winter storm from the West and an Arctic front from the North, meteorologists predict. Already dubbed “Frankenstorm,” the storm is expected to arrive in the area beginning Monday.

According to Jeremy Kleiman, coordinator of Ridgewood’s Office of Emergency Management, emergency preparation in the village started earlier this week, and all department heads met and discussed plans Friday morning.

“We reviewed our pre-storm checklist and have a plan to continue preparations through the weekend,” Kleiman told The Ridgewood News.

  1. And what are those plans? I see detailed plans (re: local shelters, local numbers where people will be on hand, how to sign up for town-specific Sandy-related alerts) other towns have posted for their residents, but cannot find the same for Ridgewood. Also, Gov Christie has ordered towns to deal with piles of leaves left by residents on streets now, but Rwd says it stopped dealing with the leaves?

  2. Tell it to the Mayor…

  3. yea how come the mayor and council and manager did not have d p w crews come in this week end. the cov, christie said that all d p w,s should be out . but not in ridgewood.
you see people the top managers do what every they like. the big man told us all to bring in the d p w before the storm so we can be on top of it.

  4. if village hall floods this time , this would be the 5th time in 3 years. lets see how good that flood wall works.

  5. well so much for leaf pick up. it will be like last year. storm clean up. can some on call fema now. if the village got 800000 last year this storm would be close to a mill.

  6. If you watched the Council meeting you would have heard the Mayor tell the manager to reduce the already cut capital budget in half and further our the Mayor said he wants 0% tax increase. So get use to it DPW, no overtime and more Village layoffs. If you think there is a lot of roads that need paving now wait till The Mayor and his “Team’ get done, ” A Fish Stinks From The Head”
