GLEN ROCK, NJ — A pillar of the Glen Rock community is hanging up the badge. After four decades of dedicated service, Chief Dean Ackermann has officially announced his retirement, marking the end of a storied career that saw him rise from a local officer to the head of the department.
A Legacy of “Leading by Example”
Chief Ackermann, who has led the Glen Rock Police Department (GRPD) for the last ten years, is known for a “no job too small” philosophy. Even as Chief, Ackermann remained active on the streets. Just last September, his quick thinking saved a local resident from a financial scam after a bank manager flagged him down in the business district—a testament to his hands-on approach to protecting the borough.
The Next Chapter: Captain Michael Trover
The future of Glen Rock’s safety now turns to a familiar face. Captain Michael Trover, a 20-year veteran of the GRPD, has been tapped by the Mayor and Council to succeed Ackermann. Trover will officially take the helm as Chief on April 1.
