Tenafly NJ, a 78-year-old man from Cresskill has died from injuries sustained in a two-car crash in Tenafly, local police confirmed.
The accident occurred around 9 p.m. last Wednesday on Jefferson Avenue, near the intersection with Riveredge Road. According to Tenafly Police, the elderly man was traveling southbound when he rear-ended a vehicle that had stopped at a red light.
The car in front was driven by a 40-year-old man from Englewood, who had stopped at the signal when his vehicle was struck from behind.
Victim Taken to Hackensack Hospital, Later Dies
The Cresskill man suffered serious injuries and was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center, where he died over the weekend, officials said.
The Englewood driver sustained minor injuries and declined medical treatment at the scene.
Ongoing Investigation
Tenafly Police have not yet released the identity of the deceased as they continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
“We are continuing to investigate the circumstances and any potential cause of this crash,” police said in a statement Wednesday.
Authorities are urging any potential witnesses to come forward with information.
