Assembly panel to consider bill to force Port Authority to respond to spending and patronage questions
The Assembly Transportation Committee Thursday will consider legislation that would grant the panel subpoena power to investigate the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The proposal (AR-61) stems from reports of wasteful spending and the handing out of patronage jobs by the bi-state agency. The Port Authority has ignore the committee’s request to respond to its questions.
Lower house committees will also consider bills to tackle gender wage inequity, put an end to hefty sick leave cash payments for public workers, reward businesses who hire employees who have been unemployed for more than 13 weeks and to help fund Legal Services of New Jersey.   (Hester, New Jersey Newsroom)
