People who receive SARS-CoV-2 vaccinations during pregnancy pass along more durable antibodies to their newborns than do unvaccinated individuals who had COVID-19 during pregnancy, according to a research letter published February 7 in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). The small study examined only  77 vaccinated pregnant women who completed their 2-dose mRNA vaccine series between weeks 20 and 32 of gestation and 12 women who had symptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infection during pregnancy.

The infants of vaccinated mothers had significantly higher immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies in umbilical cord blood at delivery and in blood draws at 2 and 6 months postpartum than infants who received antibodies from their unvaccinated convalescent mothers. The researchers note that while the antibody titer necessary for protection against SARS-CoV-2 infection or severe disease is unknown in infants, the findings further support recommendations for pregnant individuals to be vaccinated and provide evidence that antibodies in newborns of vaccinated individuals could persist until the infant becomes eligible for vaccination at 6 months.

The Food and Drug Administration said Pfizer told the agency that new data have recently emerged regarding its emergency use authorization request for the Pfizer vaccine in children 6 months through 4 years of age. The agency said its preliminary assessment and need to allow more time to evaluate additional data led it to postpone the meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 15.

An earlier (2021) and much larger study seemed to suggest it when the mom gets COVID not weather they are vaccinated or not, looked at babies born at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia between April and August of last year. More than 1,500 babies were born during that time. Of those cases, 83 moms were found to have COVID-19 antibodies. Seventy-two of their babies tested positive for the COVID-19 antibodies through their umbilical cord blood.

“As mom gets exposed, she produces antibodies. One of those is in the form of IgG, immunoglobulin G. That’s the one that passes to the baby and it’s nice to see that it reiterates what we know about other vaccines and disease protection. It does protect the baby as far as we can tell,” explained Dr. Prem Fort, a neonatologist at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital.

The study also found that those who had the infection earlier on in their pregnancy passed along more antibodies to their infants. This means the information can help researchers determine when to vaccinate pregnant moms since they were not included in the clinical trials and development of the COVID-19 vaccines.

The antibodies found in the babies were IgG, the ones produced a few days after infection and are thought to offer some long-term protection. Whether or not these antibodies can protect little ones from other rapidly spreading variants of COVID-19 needs to be studied.

  2. Who funded the study? Who performed the study?
In the latest trend of “Study was performed” and “Experts say” people should be asking questions without blindly believing this stuff, as “experts” and “studies” have been proved horribly wrong in the last 2 years, and likely in the last 20, with big money, big govt and big corps completely skewing everything for their personal benefit of profit and power over everything else.
Cuo Bono? I can assure you 100% that is NOT the people.

  3. When are they going to release all the data thats coming out on still births and miscarriages as a result of the covid vaxx? That data is plentiful and is becoming hard to hide for the narrative.

  5. Personally I know 2 cases who had miscarriages in their 1st pregnancy shortly after taking the vaccine. The sad thing is that in either case the impacted couple doesn’t even think that vax could have caused it. Brainwash.
